Happy to hear that you had a good first night. I hope it keeps up.

Sounds like it's going good, Maddy! I'm so happy for you!
I just wish they would have let you do a test for more than a week. When I changed from BiPap to Auto BiPap, it took a good two weeks for me to adjust to it and start seeing better numbers. I just pray that you get all the info you need in this one week trial, and that you will either get switched to this machine full time, OR you are able to tweak the Trilogy to better suit you. Praying for more AWAKE times!
Hang in there, and keep us posted!

I also wish you had more than a week to check the ASV out. Those machines take some time to get used to. Perhaps your experience on the ventilator will limit the time needed to adjust to things so you can see if the ASV really helps.

I think it will help in this case. As I understand it, the PR System One ASV unit actually is a bit easier to sleep with than a ventilator, since it tries to encourage normal (patient) breathing. A ventilator will insist the patient breathe when it is time. The PR SystemOne ASV will give a little more leeway in the timing. The Resmed ASV algorithm tends to operate a little more like a ventilator than the PR SystemOne ASV unit.

I could probably get an extension if needed. The DME is really being flexible. I do think that two years on the vent has made it much easier for me than someone that has come from straight cpap/bipap. I notice the subtle differences but I can deal with it. This is not much different than the vent.

I am anxious to hear how your afternoon goes... any decrease in fatigue? I know it's a long shot, but I always hope.

I just woke up from about a two-hour nap. My leg has been hurting very badly and laying on the couch has been easiest on that. I got sleepy so I masked up for the nap.
Now, I am not absolutely positive but I think that I feel better upon waking from an ASV nap over a vent nap, perhaps a bit more refreshed.

Here's hoping that's the beginning of an upward trend! More and more refreshed after each sleep!

I'll go along with your "cautiously optimistic" and maybe in a few days we can drop the "cautiously"!

I'm so glad you're having this chance to try the ASV and that it is (fingers crossed) helping.

Oh -- last night's data looks fabulous. AHI of 0.5 -- tidal volume and minute ventilation are in line.
The ONE big difference I can see is that the average EPAP is lower than what I am using on the ventilator. Let's see what a couple more days say...
This sounds encouraging! Hoping you find it helps.

Thanks everyone. I don't want to get too excited yet, but am encouraged. Even if an ASV proves much better, my doctor has to be comfortable that it will be okay for me long term. But I'll cross that bridge if/when I need to.

I am encouraged along with you on your recent trial Maddy. I noticed that your post was from 10PM. Do you know how unusual it is for you to be up at that time? I am really hoping this is the answer to your persistence and dedication to finding the right therapy for you. Each of us on this forum have different situations and there is not a one size fits all to treat sleep apnea.
LIFE IS A PROCESSION OF EVENTS, SOME TO BE CHERISHED AND SOME TO BE ENDURED, BUT ALL CONTRIBUTE TO THE FINAL OUTCOME OF WHO WE ARE TO BECOME.
(This is one of my original thoughts)
I wish you the very best Maddy, please keep us posted. Hugs to you and yours. Tell your daughter that I am so proud that she is caring enough to encourage you to use your therapy.
