Well.....it is possible the machine had a few hours on it before she got it. Not a huge deal though. In cpap machine hours that is like new. You got a great machine with minimal hours on it. It wouldn't even slow me down for a second if I was considering any good machine with such low hours.

Regarding tossing and turning... I am a very restless sleeper. I have a bad back and a lot of pain so I have to move around to relieve the pain. You might be very pleasantly surprised to find that less is more with the nasal pillow masks. I have minimal leaks and don't even use a hose management system.

Also many members use some form of hose management system to limit the tension and movement of the hose. Lots of homemade contraptions but based on this design.

There is also the mask trial program where a person can try a mask for a week to see if it will work or not and not break the wallet.. Only cost is for mailing. Down side to it is that the number of masks and models available is limited and if there is a waiting list there may be a long wait to get one. They don't bill for shipping until you are next on the list to get the mask.

If you will change your reporting time from 24 hours to 8 or 10 (depending on how many hours you sleep) your graphs will be much easier to read. 24 hours makes things so tiny can't see up close and personal.

Or you might find SleepyHead easier to manage. I know it was for me. It will work with your machine.

So sorry. Hose vs no hose (management system).
I use the Swift FX but I do not use a hose management system to route the short hose or long hose up over my head. Some people route their hoses up over head to allow for tossing and turning and the hose is up an away from the face and head and flows easily from side to side with no help or need from the person to move it. Look at the hose management tools and you will see what I mean.

I prefer having the hose lay on the bed.. it is usually routed around my pillow and I am close enough to the machine I have lots of extra length so when I toss and turn the hoses (long and short) get moved easily without me consciously doing it.

Your report is still so small.. hard to read.. I don't use ResScan so I can't tell you the steps to make it more easily viewed.. Lizistired knows ResScan inside and out..I bet she can help you with whatever she does to make the reports more easily seen. This person has image easily seen of the events but did too good of a job cropping.. I can't find a better example at the moment but this gives you and idea what can be done. viewtopic/t73136/Resscan-Image.html

So if I opt for the Swift FX I'll need:

headgear
nasal pillows
short tube

Question: Does the short tube go into the ClimateLine or directly into the machine thereby eliminating the ClimateLine? The way you are describing it, it seems as if you don't have the short tube and you just plug your regular hose directly into the FX so you only have the headgear and nasal pillows. Am I missing something?

You will need the short hose assembly..one end of it goes into the nasal pillow attached to the headgear.

The short hose assemble other end that attaches to the long hose is a standard size and your coupling on the Climateline hose is standard and they will match up just fine.

You cannot use the swift fx without the short hose assembly...no way to attach long hose to the nasal pillow.

Yep, Now change the "view" from 24 hours to 10 or 12 hours and it will stretch out so you can really see it.

In that graph icon, uncheck everything but events and maybe pressure and that area will take up less space on your screen.
Then you can set the "Detailed" area for 10 minutes, click on an event in the "Navigation" area and it will zoom in on that and display it at the Detailed setting.

I need some MAJOR help.

I am a VERY restless sleeper and I switch back and forth from both sides to my stomach.

I think that I am doing something wrong, and I REALLY need some advice. I have the ClimateLine hose, and it is CONSTANTLY coming undone from my mask. It is so incredibly annoying to have to keep reattaching it. What should I do?

Will I have this problem with the Swift FX?

Also, regarding leakage, what is the ideal number to shoot for?

ResMed says it can compensate for leaks up to 24 L/min. Remember ResMed machines subtract the intentional vent rate before you ever see the leak number so it is all excess leak that is reported. So as far under 24 L/min as possible...short lived spikes above 24 L/min aren't the end of the world as long as you don't spend much time up there. Above 24 L/min ResMed says the scoring can be inaccurate and therapy can be compromised.

Like I said, I am a very restless sleeper, alternating between both sides and my stomach constantly throughout the night. The problem is that the hose keeps coming undone from my mask. It is so annoying I can't stand it. My mask(Activa LT), has a swivel on it that has what I guess you would call a male "threaded" end, and the ClimateLine hose just has a regular "unthreaded" female end. There is nothing holding those two pieces together. Maybe my hose is bad and it's time for a new one, or possibly they make some sort of "connector" piece to attach the two (I thought that someone had mentioned that)?


For those that have the FX, will I have this problem with the FX?

I for got to bring my SD card with me this morning, but just by checking the machine, my AHI was close to 5 last night where it had previously been around 3. My leak last night was only 16 where previously it was around 24. That's pretty good for leak or no? I still haven't been able to find something that clearly and simply explains the whole leak business. So anyway my leak got better, but my AHI got worse. This is frustrating and I feel that I am going backwards instead of forward.

The onscreen leak number doesn't tell you much. A good leak number it 0. Leaks are my last battle. My AHI can be 0.0, but if I have leaks, usually during REM or DEEP sleep, my O2 will still drop below 88%. Even when they are below the red line.

Thanks Liz. What's the best (and simplest) method to increase my knowledge of all things sleep apnea with an emphasis on the S9 and how to better utilize the machine to improve my symptoms? There seems to be a TON of info out there, and since I'm going it alone (no Dr.), I'm not really sure where to start. It's all so overwhelming......

I saw somewhere on this forum that a leak of 24 or under is totally fine for the S9. Do you know if that is the case?

You want your leak as far under 24 L/min as possible. The LCD leak number doesn't tell the whole story but it gives a good indication. The LCD leak number is the 95% leak number which means that for 95% of the time you were at OR below that number. You really need to look at the leak line itself to see the whole picture but if the 95% number is well below 24 L/min if you spent any time above the 24 L/min mark it would have been a minimal amount of time. Use the leak line on the report to evaluate how much time was near or above the red line at 24 L/min. A nice straight leak line at 12 L/min...the machine can compensate for it. If a leak of 12 or 16...doesn't wake you up and disturb your sleep the machine can handle it. If leaks disturb your sleep...they need to be fixed no matter what the size of the leak.

I don't know why your hose is becoming disengaged from the mask so easily. That is not a common problem. Will it happen with the Swift FX? We don't know because we don't know exactly what the problem you are having is. I use the Swift FX....I don't use any hose management system...I toss and turn a lot. My long hose doesn't come lose from my mask hose. All the connectors are the same size on the masks and hoses. If one isn't gripping properly for some reason I would replace it.
