I was beginning to think that SleepyHead was a waste of time, because it was impossible to see tany meaningful details!

You were a tremendous help!!
You are most welcome. Glad to help. SleepyHead is really very nice and we can do a whole lot more to customize it to our preferences than one realizes. I didn't know about those events in that tab for a long time other than they were there. I didn't know I could click on one of them and have the graphs zero in on that event. I was just zooming in from the graphs on the right. Click and drag thing.

I have gone in and really customized this latest version of SleepyHead. Changed the fonts..changed the graph layout and even size of graphs so that I see the stuff that is most important to me easily without any scrolling at all.

Neither of the Encore softwares allow any modifications or zooming in for the PR S1 users.
ResScan does allow for similar modifications and zooming in for Resmed users. I just can't seem to get it done with ResScan as easily as I can with SleepyHead. No patience I guess and since I have used SleepyHead for the PR S1 stuff I am just more comfortable with it. I am currently using a Resmed machine just to try it so I had a chance to use ResScan. I know what it will do...I just can't seem to get it to do it for me. No big deal though. SleepHead gives me what I want and I won't be using the ResMed machine much longer anyhow so no need to struggle with learning ResScan.

Hi Randy, I am familiar with the ResScan but not with the SleepyHead. So I can't comment about your graphs.

Sleepyhead just keeps getting better and better. At this point, about the only thing I see on ResScan that might be available that you can't get on Sleepyhead is the professional looking reports that can provide a Statistics section, Overview Graphs and a number of Daily Graphs all in one report. You can get all of the same information (and more) from Sleepyhead, you just have to print the daily graphs individually, I beleve. But Sleepyhead offers so much more data, flexibility, customization and imports the data so much faster...and I can't say that I've had much of a need to print a report...just once when I went to see my doctor for a one month CPAP follow-up.

Sleepyhead provides more data than I have been able to view on ResScan (mask pressure, tidal volume, etc) so apparently the data is there but the default ResScan settings must block some of the graphs for some reason. Does anybody know how to show the same data on ResScan? Might not matter in the future as I can see myself going with Sleepyhead strictly over ResScan rather than using both as I've been doing.

Not that I am aware of. I see the same thing with the Encore reports. They simply don't report all the data that the machine obviously collects. For some reason it seems to be tied to machine model. The higher end ASV machines the reports will show that extra data that you mention. I had no idea that my PR S1 machine even collected this extra data till SleepyHead gave it to me.

For sure I can't modify Encore. ResScan may have something deep within its settings that might let you do it but from the poking around I did in ResScan I didn't find it. Perhaps those ResScan users that are quite adept with using the software have found a way to alter what it shows for the machine models under the fancy high end ASV model.

Reply, I meant only those using Resmed machines with ResScan. Otherwise, it's useless.

I looked at mask pressure one time but I didn't feel it was particularly informative. Do a search on my user id, XML, and tidal volume and you should find a thread where I and one or two others discussed what needs to be done to see those graphs in Resscan. It requires editing the XML file. If that leaves you with a "huh?" then you may be better off to move to Sleepyhead if you really want to see those graphs. The XML is a text file so it's really not all that difficult to edit.

Why is it useless to anyone else and why did you take the charts down? They are very informative regardless of what software the person uses. A waveform is a waveform regardless of the software. By taking it down you limit those others who may be helped by the post. How very selfish of you.

Do you have a cut-off point in mind somewhere between these two extremes of 15 and 120 seconds of an event being "OK" vs "of concern"? I tried a couple of experiments. 1) I found that when I take a big breath and then hold it, I can go 27 seconds before feeling that I really must breathe. But it is unlikely that I do that when sleeping. So I tried 2) breathing naturally and after exhaling holding off on inhaling. That took about 17 seconds before I started feeling I really must breathe. Now I was doing this both awake and sitting up, so I imagine there might be differences when lying down and sleeping. Also, I'm assuming that OAs and Hs occur when an inhale doesn't happen, rather than somewhere else in the breath cycle. Am I right about that? I was just wondering if you have a general rule of thumb in terms of event duration.

Reply, yes, you're correct that I am sort of selfish (even if I don't sell fish). IMO, it's a bit too soon to present my findings in this thread. Your posts show that you yourself are not interested in my data. But you seem to act on behalf of others. How do you know that others would benefit from my posting those Rescan's graphs and eager to see them?

BTW, I have posted some of those graphs in the past several times, especially in threads by Central Apnea sufferers.

Tomorrow, I'll post here some of them.

Changed my mind. When I find the time I'll post it in a new post.

Each "double hump" is a breath. The part of the breath above the "0" line is when you are inhaling. The part of the breath below the "0" line is when you are exhaling. The "O" line is the line that cuts the humps in half.
