Benz, I remember reading the site doesn't function with Thunderbird - you have to use IE for it.
Does that help?
O.

I found the website frustrating also. Just go back and start from the beginning. Read carefully.

My smartcard reader arrived in only 7 days from Hong Kong. I live in Canada and had to pay an additional $9.15 Canadian for GST and handling fee. What a rip off. But hey, just getting it so fast and being able to monitor my own treatment is so interesting and benneficial.

I am also trying to buy the reader from 2factors

(Thanks Linda & RestedGal)

It took 2 tries to get a login set up.

I just did a purchase from 2factors and it did the same thing to me and took me back to the log in but just ignore that page and you will see a summary page of your purchase. I clicked it more than once and it had me down for 2 so I had to change it and click "update."

I made payment thru paypal. Not I wait with anticipation.

Linda said not to use their software. Their was a download on their site for MyEncore. Is that what should be downloaded or is everything (drivers, etc) in the software itself available elsewhere?

Tnx,

Tom

Tom, I think what Linda said is to not use the CD that will come in the box with the card reader. You can just throw that CD away.

Yes, the download on the 2factors site is what you need to get the correct drivers for the card reader to work with Encore Pro. Incidentally, the software to read the Respironics Smart Card is "Encore Pro" - not to be confused with a different program called "MyEncore." You don't need MyEncore to make Encore Pro work.

Click the bottom link (Installers for Encore Pro) on the righthand side of this page:

2factors page with link to "Installers for Encore Pro"

When you click the link on 2factors' page, the file you'll be offered for download is named:

DT3500-EncorePro.exe

That's the correct driver to make the 2factors.com card reader "read" the Respironics Smart Card with Encore Pro.

Save it as a download to your hard drive and then doubleclick the saved file to install the driver.

Be sure you are using IE instead of another browser.
For some reason. other browsers will not complete the purchase/

Benz,
I empathize with you. I've been on CPAP for 10 days now and have not had any improvement in day time sleepiness, mental agility or memory. I also have struggled with the equipment. I use the Swift mask and have had nights with and without leaks. I'm going to try the large size pillow tonight. I don't yet have the heated hose so I'm getting lots of condensation but I'm going to try routing the hose differently. I already tried wrapping it in an ace bandage, with only minor improvement. My Remstar humidifier is set to 3. I also have a problem with the Swift belt buckle at the back of my neck causing discomfort when sleeping on my back. I tried shifting the buckle to the side last night but woke up this morning with a crick in my neck from turning my head to the side so I wouldn't sleep on the buckle!

But the many positive stories from this forum give me hope as well as ideas on dealing with the issues arising from CPAP use. I'm going to stick with it and use the ideas from other users to resolve these problems. I also hope to strengthen my neck muscles through exercises on my upper body, though it sounds like there are mixed results with this. Before having kids, I used a lot of free weights for muscle toning. I haven't gained any weight over the years but I know a lot of my muscle tissue has changed to fat as I've aged.

As for the card reader from TwoFactor, the website isn't user friendly. After you click the Buy button on the card reader, it takes you back to the log-in page. Rather than re-entering your user name and password, click on the Shopping Cart button along the top banner. You'll see your order and the Confirm Order button at the bottom of the page. Agree to the Terms, select online or offline payment and click the button. Then you can complete your order. Hope this isn't too late and I hope your CPAP results improve.
