Mike, did the insurance company say they wouldn't pay for anything but a CPAP, or was that the DME? As we all know, nearly all insurance companies pay one price regardless of the type of machine, mask, filters, hose, etc.

So, I don't see how any insurance company would limit xPAP selection to a CPAP.

Janelle has "hit the nail on the head" regarding this one. The billing code is the same for CPAP and APAP... as far as the insurance company knows they are the same machine.

Your equipment supplier (DME) likely made that up so that they could sell you the equipment that makes them the most profit.
