No offense taken.
Personally, if you really have sleep apnea, then I would rather discuss things about your experiences here. If you are not dealing with sleep apnea than you shouldn't be using this forum.

I take offence to that. That is stereotyping. Is a cartoon character helping me... no, nor would it. The fine folks on this board are helping me and my device is helping me. I read cartoon's every day, but not to learn something... mostly for amusement. If something comes across and I learn from it, great. And besides, macho men went out with the Village People. I'm a guy who loves his wife, loves his children, and loves his country. I would do anything to protect them. I also tell my Dad (and Mom when she was alive) that I love him. I have a soft spot for animals and children, but also love to watch football, go hiking and camping.

If I'm going to learn something you, it certainly won't be at the pre-school age reading level which is an insult to my intelligence. Again, who is your target audience? Kids, toddlers, or adults? I don't think you know.

Take care,

John

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea 9-1-11, i think in a way, i created Breathie the little Cpap to help ME deal with it, but i also want to help others deal with this with a smile.

Perrybucs, my apologies for offending you with my comment, i meant no harm by it, im am really trying to help others with SA here. Thats all im trying to do. Please forgive me.

And I am a NASCAR FAN, i love car races, and i also have a heart for kids and orphans, but i think my personality has been molded mostly from the fact that i did not have a father figure to look up to, i lived mostly with my mom, so my personality is more soft hearted and forgiving then tough. That is where i think i got my innocent aiming storytelling style from.

Jose, I'm getting the feeling that you want to do Breathie your own way. That is fine and it can be an outlet for you to cope with your own therapy and an outlet for your creativity.

I think if you are OK with not publishing it, then you may be happiest doing it your way. If you want to publish it, you need to do it the way of a 7-year-old, and incorporate some of the feedback you're getting. You don't have to include violence to appeal to a child older than 4.

Thank you for you opinion and help sleeping, i dont really think i intend to publish stories of Breathie, i may just write stories for kids with SA in another website of my own. But as far as using Breathie as a teaching tool for kids. That is my vision, i think you would have to live in my surroundings to understand my work and way of thinking. But i do appreciate your positive feedback, thank you

To give you a summery of my life is like and what I had and STILL have to cope with,

I have Spina Bifida, a spinal defect where I cannot walk normally and can have no children, unless I adopt one., I have had a total of 9 surgeries in my lifetime, mostly when I was a kid, i was in a coma for 9 days as a result of one of my surgeries going bad. my father left us when i was only 5 years old meaning that I have spent all of my life living with my mother. ( I cannot support myself because of my handicap, therefore I need family help, But I do pay rent and bills), because of my surgery mishap, I have lost function in several parts of my body, and because of it, suffered through depression for 2 years after my surgery.

With all that I am going through I am STILL living and trying my best to deal and cope with what life has delt me. I am now an accomplished cartoonist, i write stories for kids. I play Guitar and Piano, and I have 1 cartoon character that is being used as a mascott for a chalk company based in Guatemala, and am receiving royalties for it. And I give all the glory and thanks to my savior Jesus Christ who has helped me immensely in going on with life with a positve attitude, and God has given me a childlike personality that I love and am greatful for, So i can say that the reason I think the way I think and view things in a childlike way is because God put it in me, and I will never change the way I view life now.

Ok, Now you know my surroundings and my point of view of things. I hope you understand now.

You have had a tough life, Jose. I give you credit for your resilience and for the positive attitude you have despite the adversities you have suffered and continue to suffer.

It sounds like your "childlike personality" is an important part of your self-identity, and it's important to you for that to shine through in Breathie. In that case, you are right to ignore our misguided efforts to get you to make him more appealing to older children and for publication. Any efforts to make him other than what he is (and you are) would detract from his therapeutic value to you, which in my opinion is his most important purpose. I think he will still have an appeal for the younger crowd, but more importantly, he has contributed to the meaning in your life.

Please forgive my misplaced criticisms and teasing.

I have already forgiven you long before writing this last post to you Sleeping, I am just happy that you now understand where Breathie the CPAP is coming from, so i hope we can be friends and not do anymore teasing or disagreeing, because I really don't like to make others angry or be made fun of. it is not right to do. (Shakes hands, Breathie smiles at us happily)

Even though it's as much in my nature to tease (in a good-natured way much of the time) as it is in yours to be "childlike", I agree and will find someone else to tease. Any volunteers??

When you get more done on Breathie, I'll show it to my son. He likes to draw cartoons too.
