Good reply John,
I did not see the OP's post but would like to reply anyways.
I am A Christian who tries to live his faith for Jesus Christ who is my Saviour and Lord. I do beleave that God can and does heal the sick, sometimes he does this instantly but more often he gives us the tools, such as doctors and CPAP machines and brains, to be able help ourselves. Why would God Heal some and not others? I do not know, as I am only human I can not even begin to understand what God does or how he thinks. I do beleave though that when someone is sick it is foolish not to visit the doctor after all having faith in modern medicne is also having faith in God.

Irony of all ironies.
Denying the existence of God while trusting a plastic box and hoping it will provide one more gasp of air to survive the night.
Talk about a crutch to get through life...

The plastic box has medical studies that prove its usefulness. The only proof of gods is the massive numbers of people killed in their name. As far as healing is concerned there are a few badly documented "miracles". Winning the lottery has higher chance of happening. Statistically then you have a higher chance of dying for some god then being healed by them.
Religion is very useful as a
personal metaphor to deal with lifes challenges, mental, physical and emotional ones. But it should be used in conjunction with well documented therapy.

Do I trust God completely? Yes! But He sometimes works through others to give us what we need, and this includes Doctors.
Believe what you want to....... I KNOW where I am going when I depart this earth. Do you?

Dear, (diety of choice-if any),
Grant me the patience to sleep with this device stuck to my face-every night)
The wisdom to educate myself, because I may be my own best resource,
The ingenuity to make this thing work--whatever it takes,
and the kindness to respect others--even if I am certain they are wrong.
Amen.

If I believe God was as you think of him I would run from him just like you. But I know a God that you do not know.
"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."
Matthew 11:28-30

Personally, I think sick people often need medical treatment provided by medical doctors.
If the board doesn't mind, I would like to provide references in support of that opinion on that medical matter: Matt 9:12; Mr 2:17; Lu 5:31.
I believe that last reference happens to be from the respected writings of someone who was a medical professional himself.
I apologize to anyone who considers this post of mine to be off-topic troll-feeding. It just seemed to belong in this thread under these circumstances.

Y'know I was just thinking. That fella who posted. The original guy. To post what he did without any kind of testimony or data to back up his claims, he really did a disservice to the god he serves.
Presuming he was serious when he posted, of course...

I saw the original post. He wasn't referring to a "god", he was referring to salvation through Jesus Christ.
For Christians, "Jesus" = "GOD"
The OP should've marked the post "OT", but personally, I wouldn't have posted the piece here on this forum in the first place, especially for my first post. But sometimes a guy's gotta do what he's gotta do....
I've seen some *regulars* here do far worse things.

I would like to know which medical studies you are referring to and which journal they are published in. I would really like to read them. Seems like people who refere to “medical studies” should be able to state their source and if not, quit trying to sell their point of view based upon some fictitious “study.” It would be enlightening to see the parameters of such a study such as the population sample size and demographics for the study, what is the test-retest reliability coefficient and so forth.
You also stated that,” Statistically then you have a higher chance of dying for some god then being healed by them.” I would like to know how that statistic was compiled, by whom and which journal it appears in, if it exists.
Thanks
Roger
