APAP ALL THE TIME 6.4 - 12

High pressures are usually very brief, but it does happen....and not really interested is being on straight high pressure!!

Have toyed with idea of trying straight cpap, but have a few other new factors messing with my numbers so need to get those things settled down before any experimenting with input from doc.

Doc ordered me the APAP (specific make/model) for a reason.....so I am sticking with it....although will experiment when it is appropriate!

APAP all the time, pressure 7 - 20 although its never gone above 15
My statistics speak for themselves.
The 1 month average pressures are
Median 7.5
95th Percentile 10.1
Maximum 13
It's not uncommon to see maximum pressures of about 14 for a short time and on some nights the 95th percentile is about 12 - 13.
Where would I set my CPAP pressure?, probably at about 12 - 13, but then I would be needlessly running much higher pressure than I require for most of the night.
My varying pressure is of no concern, nor are my leaks. AHI is normally under 1.
I probably should limit my maximum to 13 for a conventional ideal set-up but why?

14-20 APAP currently.

I found that I feel better if I set the minimum pressure somewhat above where the machine wants to auto me up to. Even though I show few apneas at 12, I feel better at 13 or 14.

You probably want to set the minimum pressure to something that works pretty well for you. The dumb "4-20" auto pressure setting is probably a bad idea. You may spend too much of the night struggling with inadequate pressure before it adjusts upwards.

I leave the max pressure at 20. My machine doesn't ever seem to "run away" on me and go to a higher pressure. If your machine does, you can set a maximum pressure.

after 6 weeks of trials, my specialist says I only need CPAP. I only need 6cc (AHI down from 20 to 3) , so it's an easy one for me, relatively speaking.
I can raise it to 7 he says to experiment, but higher pressures can give rise to complex apneas, he says.
still, we like to take control of our own medicine and I would prefer to Auto and see how that goes, it might yield some new information. it will boil down to money for me on the cost of a machine (current one is rental).

and by golly, I think some of that (mild) black dog depression is leaving my humble abode (mind).

Yeah, 6 wks oughta see some inprovement...isnt' that a relief? Promises improvement in other areas soon. Was amazing to me to see how much of life I'd been missing as recovery occurred. Congrats!
