I Got it!!! I got the Autoset, and yes, I checked the model number, it IS an Autoset. ResMed told me earlier in the week I could call them with the serial number and they would verify it, but I haven't gone that far (yet) It looks pretty Autoset to me.
The level of potential corruption in this industry really concerns and disturbs me. Archangle, I'm afraid you are entirely too right.
I also got a new mask that I'm very pleased with, I'll update my equipment profile tonight.
Thank you CPAP People for all your help and support!

Good!!! Good for you, EO !!
I was eagerly awaiting your return with (hopefully) the promised
S9 AutoSet. Bravo to the "good DME" you're dealing with now.
And like a cat watching another cat playing with a mouse (hate to see that, actually ) I shall patiently wait, with front paws tucked and tail twitching ever so slightly, to see how E0 (oops, I meant "EO" ) makes the previous game-playing DME "
wish they had just given it to me."

Even though it wasn't aimed at anyone here, I felt a shivery chill when I read those simple words: "
I will have them."
Yes, I think they may come to "
wish they had just given it" to you. Yep.

Good Deal EO....writing this all down in your notebook? This is a good first step up the ladder.

Ok, my machine and I are now happily at home. I'm wondering if it's too early to go to sleep.... 8 pm, nah, it will never happen. But it's nice to have something to look forward to. My profile is now updated, the mask I got is the Mirage FX for her. I like the features and my previous mask (Respironics Profile?) sometimes caused itching, not sure if it was due to the 'gel' material it was made of, but hoping this will be better, I love how small it is.
Now that my machine is safely at home, I will return to the 'mouse dme' and have a bit of fun. I find it hysterical that aside from a computer hiccup, my DME gave me this machine with no fuss. The respiratory therapist showed me that in their computer it says they carry the Escape Auto, but it's actually the Autoset, she then mumbled something about "I think I know why they do that, but I won't say anything about that" and although I find this even more interesting, I'm happy with my machine and I'm not going to mess with it.
Anyone have any insight on why they would claim to be giving you a less expensive machine than the paperwork says? (the paperwork says Escape, and they gave me an Autoset) (model # confirmed) That seems completely backwards, but wait... this is the DME.....
RestedGal, I'll keep you posted

You already are asleep. This is just a dream. You actually ended up with a used legacy REMstar Plus machine with no humidifier.

Nightmare.....I could go without data before going without humidifier.

I hate the Autoset. I want my Escape back.
The Autoset is way too nice. Now I have nothing to complain about. What am I going to do with the rest of my life???
Psych! (how's that for a nightmare???)
Seriously, I DO love the Autoset, it is clearly superior technology, I LOVED the way that it would "breathe with me" (is that the EPR?) I have about a million questions that I will try post later, but I'm very happy. I could not wait to wake up and look at my data (haven't downloaded it yet, need to go buy a card reader, with all my chomping at the bit you think I would have done that already) but I saw what was on the screen, however, I'm going to have to keep you in suspense. Duty calls.

Is this DME part of a chain? If so, it would appear that someone at that branch knows how to play games. Except they're doing it to provide a better machine to their customers. I wouldn't publicly discuss the specifics of this transaction. If they're a chain and someone else working for that chain finds they're playing games, well... game over which would be bad for future customers.

The DME has roughly a dozen stores in my state, but not beyond, they are family owned. Hopefully that will translate to good things, they do have nearly as many RT's as they do stores, so I have a network of RT's to consult with. That said, yes, I suspect it may be a 'game' that for once benefits the customer, so I'm going to leave it alone, however my hubby will be getting his CPAP from there and I will most certainly spread the word about their good service.
