How about if you are so set on getting your works on a post, start one of your own and quit posting on spam, so others can delete it. I posted the other day how if everyone deleted their post to a spam link then it could be deleted, but this post is way past that, so was the one I was talking about and it only had 3 posts, but that was too many. P.S. I deleted my post to that link after 2 hours giving others a chance to become informed, they didn't. Jim

I suppose the idea is to make the forum accessible to people who don't want to bother to register or are too foggy to figure out how. In the former case, I think we're better off without them, though I can see the argument for making it as easy as possible for an OSA zombie who came of age when transistor radios were new to post and get help. But these folks are unlikely to come in an post links right off the bat. Hence, kicking posts with links back to the editor would still be a good bot stop. It may be that is much easier to say than to to do, though.

Well, it's getting to be the LONGEST...
Speaking of which, I was really looking forward to that enlargement info. For a friend, of course. Not THAT close a friend... Never mind.

I wasn't around during that two hours and didn't realize that if all the real people deleted their posts too, the thread would go disappear. Thanks for posting this information again. Have you actually seen that work?

Someone is digging around for that information, and they'll post the info online as soon as they get it up.

No, but it stands to reason if there's no posts on a post the orgional could be marked for delete. (If the software allows it.) Jim
Getting the people back that post on spam is hard, as most won't come back to a useless post, even they don't have that much itme to waste. Jim
I guess I do.

I may be wrong, but I *think* the subject title itself will remain, even if
everyone who has replied spam-buttons their own posts away (and the original spam post is spam-buttoned off, too.) When that happens, the last person to "spam-delete" his/her own post (or maybe it's the first person who responded?) gets an ugly credit... gets credited incorrectly as being the person who
started the topic, even though they didn't. Happened to me once, just as how Mike described:

Even worse, you could end up with ownership of the post.
I replied to a Russian post (on Tue Aug 09, 2011 3:04 am ) by running it through Google translate and posting the results. Turns out the post was a comically sad attempt at spam.
A day later, the topic title: "Продам микронаушник " is still on the board, with my name attached as the poster!
So, don't everyone start spam-buttoning their own posts away on THIS thread... lol ... unless you all tell me first, so I won't be the last one left standing!

The CPAP setting that does that is in the second level ultra secret second level clinician's menu.

Well we better keep this thread alive NOW, while we have the chance.
There'll be no way to find this thing by doing a search!

Oh. I was thinking we had a regular delete option here. Good luck talking a new member into reporting himself as a spammer.

So
that's why I was never able to get an RT at either of the local DME shops to talk to me on the phone. They were too busy tweaking their menus.

Another type of "spam" post that often appears on this forum and should be either ignored (don't reply to it at all) or "spam buttoned" are posts that say nothing more than "Hi." I know everyone wants to be friendly and hates to see a newcomer get ignored, but a post that contains only "Hi" or "Hello" and doesn't have anything in it talking about "cpap" or sleep apnea, is almost surely spam.
Someone just posted that kind of spam. We'll see if the people here can resist. I'm betting someone will respond to it before it is deleted.
