at the risk of being redundant ( i have suggested this in other threads)...you might consider a boil and bite mouth guard (wal-mart in the sporting goods section...$1.97). it works two-fold....keeps you from grinding your teeth...and makes it difficult to breathe thru your mouth.

Absolutely fantastic! I have a huge head. Nothing fits. I contacted the vendor to inquire about the maximum size of the Large PapCap. Unfortunately, my head is bigger than that. When I said so, he said he might be able to help me using some surplus, unfinished stock on hand. When I asked what that meant, he explained that he had some unfinished stock that was made too big for most heads. I gave him my head circumference measurement and he had one finished, custom, just for me. Very well made. Can't get better service than that!

Due to the cross-border issues, you might want to measure your head and confirm the correct size first. Also, be aware that there are two versions - standard and with built-in headgear-like attachments to use without the regular headgear for your mask. The standard version is the appropriate one if you intend to continue using the headgear that came with your mask. IIRC, the one with built-in headgear attachments is NOT intended for nasal pillows. The vendor was very accessible to via email.

I'm interested in his hose reels too--for hose management. IIRC my hat size is 7-5/8...so I'll write to the gentleman and see.

By the time I put on my chinstrap, then my headgear I feel over-burdened. And I've lost enough hair already!

Woke up at 4:00 this morning. Couldn't sleep at all. Tried the Mirage FX without a chinstrap. Ended up going downstairs and killing time until the alarm.

I use the Resmed chin strap.I put it on first and then the mask. Sure it tends to get loose sometimes but I find that as long as its there I dont open my mouth.

I had a couple of soft collars around the house so I gave this a try for a short nap. Hey this might work. It doesnt drag the chin back. It keeps the neck in a nice position for an open airway. It provides a bit more stability for side sleeping. Might even be good for my tricky neck.

Negatives...You have to get used to wearing it. If anyone can we can.

Well I wore the collar last night and I thought everything went well until I pressed the button on my VPAP to check my AHI. It showed 8.6. I am usually always 2 or lower??? Perhaps I was mouth breathing?? Mouth didnt feel dry???

Nothing else different except the collar.

it's the little things that affect how we feel with treatment. Just a little difference, and I'm messed up until I figure it out.

I just picked up a Halo from my DME. I hadn't seen it before, but it has been mentioned here. I like it. It's light weight, has a pocket for your chin, and the strap top is kind of circular, hence the name I guess, so that it sits on your crown and stays in place during the night. It's similar in design to the Respironics (I think), but much lighter. I think it's one-size fits all. I have a medium head and it fits fine, it is adjustable, but I'm not sure it would fit a large with a long face. It's made by Breathewear and you can see it at breathewear dot com.

Does the PapCap work for puffs of air escaping the mouth that occur without the chin dropping?
