But, but, but, I eventually fulfilled the mission!
rested gal wrote:Hey Jeff,

Please ask Ms Garrison about PR's "Auto IQ" machine. Specifically this... "After it's been used in auto mode for 30 days, and it switches to CPAP mode using the 90% pressure number, can it ever be reset (through the clinical menu) to do another 30 days of autotitration?" (And then another, and another, and another? )
Her answer was:

"No. It is not designed to do that. It is designed to give 30 days only, but those 30 days can be split up into sessions as short as 3 days."

I assume her answer to 'can it be "hacked" to give another 30 days' would be "no comment."
rested gal wrote:And...a follow up question for her (yeah, wish I could be there! lol )
When it's set for the 30 days of autotitration, can the minimum/maximum pressure range be set (for example 8 - 15 ) if the doctor doesn't want it to be using 4 - 20 during those 30 days.
I later got that answer from sources close to the White House:
jnk wrote:As for the AutoIQ, I have been informed by sources close to the White House that "the pressure can be set at any range during the Auto Trial period… 4-20cmH20, or 8-15cmH20… etc… any range you like, as in our Auto CPAP device."

I guess some RR, oops, I mean, Philips, people do read this board.
And hey, even Mr. Bond himself gets distracted on some missions!

Wonder if he gets a lot of referrals for complex sleep apnea?

If that means do most sleep professionals consider them dangerous and something that should be dealt with?
Dangerous to the point of the now politically incorrect BC (Johnny Hart) comic strip where "The Fat Broad" is seen clubbing a snake into oblivion (Ooops! I mean "A Person of Mass". The snake is still SOL.).

In that case, I go with what Jeff said. And the other two things he said.

Snake oil can come in handy in the desert.

.....BUT,
all that being said, mission accomplished.....
..so, just adding insult to injury,
I received a notice in the mail that the sleep cntr. that did my study,
had to make a difficult decision.
Due to dramatic drop in participation, they will no longer
be hosting AWAKE meetings.

I attended the last vendor fair a couple of weeks ago....it was dismal.

But, they left me w/this tidbit of hope....

"To help maintain your best possible care, keep the relationship and
communication open w/your Medical Equipment Company and your
physician by being your own advocate."

This coming from a director that did more to intimidate and destroy
any hope of "being your own advocate."

Thanks for coming in for a sleep study....and when you walk out that door,
you're on your own.

....so, JNK, it's you and me....someday....rid'n the A train.....or the E train......
or the City of New Orleans down town or uptown or across town...
wherever....to a real AWAKE meeting.

.....and then some of that pizza afterwords.
