Vertigo can also be caused by low ferritin levels. Some people cannot donate blood even though a hematocrit test indicates they are a viable donor at the Red Cross station. Sometimes, ferritin levels recover too slowly, causing vertigo or dizziness for a few weeks after donation. In other words, there is not enough iron in your body for it to replenish the loss of hemoglobin at a normal rate. Doctors often prescribe iron supplements for low ferritin levels. Regardless, it wouldn't hurt to talk to your doctor about it.
