I got a quattro FX ff mask yest. I think I will like it alot more, its smaller, no forehead part, seems like it will work better sleeping on side.

The lady at the DME was kind of a jerk - she told me that whoever I talked to on the phone must have been feeling nice, because normally NO ONE gets a second "courtesy" mask, and I am getting one and they are eating the cost and blah blah blah, those masks are like $200!! blah blah.

she also asked me how I clean my mask - I said I use the CPAP wipes, she told me I should use baby shampoo?

she used some tool to measure and gave me a small. I didn't sleep well with it last night, but hoping I get used to it quick.

I will give it a week or so, then maybe work on decreasing flex.

Pharm30,
The manufacturers eat the cost...not the DMEs

That's great, I hope it works, I've had pretty good luck with it. I think you'll find turning the flex off and the rise time on to be a good change as well. I hope this mask works out for you. Good luck!

Last night I had this small leak around my left eye, could feel the air tickling my eyelashes. Woke up 3-4 times, tried to adjust, took it off, put it back on...couldn't get rid of it. Worse on my side (I thought this mask was supposed to work better for side sleepers?) Even on back, if I moved my head the slightest, I could feel it.
getting very frustrated!!!!!!! Compliance was great for month and a half, now I'm barely 70%.

When it leaks, that is the most likely place, it's pretty common. I've got them mostly under control now and rarely have a large leak. It took me a while before I found the right strap adjustments. I wonder if you didn't have it on tight enough? I eventually had to crank it down more than I did originally. Of course it does feel tight at first but now I hardly notice I'm wearing it.

I also bought a buckwheat/millet pillow and that helps too because I can push away the hulls and create a depression in the pillow, and the mask can set in the depression.

Other than really trying to tighten the straps, the only thing I can think of would be: a) maybe it's not the right size b) get some lanolin (Lansinoh brand) because that helps the seal stick to the face, or c) try the mask liner and/or anti-leak strap from padacheek.com

Whatever you do, don't give up, you gotta make it work. But it sure can be a real pain in the ass.

I have a cpap pillow coming in the mail.
I actually logged 7 1/2 hrs last night with mask on, but I think I ramped it a couple times during the night. I remember waking up once
to a leak and once due to it trying to blow the mask off my face. AHI was 9.

That's good news on logging 7-1/2. Not a great AHI, but not so bad either. Keep trying to get the mask leaks under control and then you can focus on getting the AHI's down.

Last night was bad, dog was sick, tossed and turned and fought mask for hours, finally went to sleep around 4 am, so 9 am gym time was out the window.
I had a pad-a-cheek liner for my other mask, didn't realize they made one for the quattro fx, so I just ordered 2!

I hope you find that 'groove' soon so you can settle down and finally get some rest.

Just think of all the time, hassle, and money we put into this just for a decent night of sleep. Mask liners, anti-leak strap, strap pads, pillows, etc etc etc.

It really is work.

Got the CPAP max pillow, kinda disappointed. Seems really small and cheap for the price I paid for it. I assumed the "cover" was a pillow case, it's really just a slip cover, the end with the tags is open, annoying. Not sure it's going to adequately replace my temperpedic pillow that I have been using for over a year, love that one. MIght inquire about returning.

Try the buckwheat pillow. You can set it on top of the tempurpedic. Works great for me.

Just got a CMS 50-F Oximeter and am trying to sync the times up with my machine. Couldn't find any clock setting in the machine options. Mine seems to be about 7 minutes slow, so is there any way to adjust the clock on the ASV or are you locked out of that?

Good question Kody, I think mine is off by a similar amount of time. My guess is that we're locked out of it, because one could fake their compliance by screwing with the clock/date settings and setting it to different times or dates.

Ken and Kody,
Respironics machines are set at the factory to GMT and there is no way to reset the internal clock. It runs off of a battery and as the battery ages the machines gradually loses time. It has been a common situation with Respironics machines for a very long time.

Thanks Pugsy & Ken, I didn't think it was possible for the reasons stated. Yes with everything else I'm busy with lately, adjusting pressures, keeping logs printing out graphs etc. Just for kicks I'd start messing with Dates & times as well to fool the Doc's. Somehow this whole ordeal at times seems to have turned into the Hobby from Hell.!!
