pollyanna40,
It took me 3-4 months to get my sleep time above 4.5 hours a night. I slept with a pulse oximeter on my finger every night and I could see the next morning that every hour I "slept" without my mask was an hour of sleeplessness or SPO2 desaturations down into the 60's. That convinced me to keep going. At some point your body will wake (in alpha, not actually) and think "ahh, mask is on I am safe, all is well" and you will keep sleeping that good restorative sleep that heals most wounds. But for now you are "waking" and your body thinks 'arg! mask!, suffocating!, "Danger Will Robinson!"'. This is one of those times when those people who believe in aroma therapy and special background sounds, etc, must make the leap of faith and bend all their powers to persuasion of the sleeping mind that; mask on = good. You will reach that Buddha state eventually by wearing your mask with intention and thoughtfully through each night. But, so sorry, it takes time, and persistence.
Really, we are all hoping for you, keep trying, it will work.
