Side note: while it's easy getting the mask on with the velcro and getting it seated just so, taking it off is whole other challenge. Working on that part
Huh??? Just grab the back strap and pull it off over your head. It shouldn't be so tight that this is not possible.

Did I suggest you read my "Swift FX fitting tips" yet that appear in my signature (link to my blog)? If not, please check it out--it may help.

One more thing, quick Velcro lesson. So that everyone is on the same page and communicates clearly, the stiff side of velcro with the hooks is called the "hook" side, and the fuzzy side is called the "loop" side (Official velcro terminology, I swear )

Photo on this Wikipedia page if you' re interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velcro

So it's the hook side that helps the most in keeping your headgear from slipping because the little hooks grip your hair. I keep seeing references to that side as the "loopy" or "looped" side, but the grabby, stiff side with the hooks is the "hook side", NOT the loop side. Velcro terminology is important to me because of my former career. (HA, I'll leave you all guessing what it was and NO it wasn't what you're thinking!!!!!!!!!!! ).

BTW, the history and various uses of Velcro are interesting. The Wikipedia page said a 2" square of velcro can support a 175 lb. man--LOL!

You're no fun. Loopy was such a good word.

dlg_az wrote:Bleep! Bleep! It worked!! My jerry-rigged velcro solution actually worked in my {insert epithet of choice here} hair! It stayed in place MOST of the night. Stayed right where I put it, but after some shifting around (and I'm sure it's my side sleeping position that's doing it) it moved it around a bit, but the hair went with it and kinda sorta went back into place after a while. Could NOT believe it. VELCRO!
Woot! So glad it helped! I bet the strap cover your friend is making for you will be a great solution.

Jan, I'm betting she meant that the Velcro is getting stuck in her hair, rather than the strap being too tight. Sounds to me like getting her hair free from all the little hooks is a little tricky.

Okay, I stand corrected (on the "loopy" Velcro being known as the "hooked" side). I ain't no seamstress. (But I agree with dlg - "loopy" is much more fun to say. )

Nothing at all to do with being tight. Putting the mask on you move the straps towards the back of your head to put the mask in place and the velcro slides along doing its gripping thing on the top as you go along. The problem is taking it off in the obligatory opposite direction - my hair is all LOOPY'ED up and getting my hair OFF the velcro is a major challenge, especially after sleeping on it all night - rat's nest comes to mind.

Way ahead of you there; already dove into that some days ago while hunting for solutions. A good read!

I'm going to try to wear it with the straps connected at the second hole - so the length before it splits is shortened.
