Hmmmm.

I always figured a dot and a point are rather synonymous.

So why is it that turning posts into dot makes them pointless.....

Last night's data from my new PR System One BiPAP ASV. Still got my machine running in BiPAP mode, but I was not able to change PS min. The machine refused to allow it set to anything but zero.

Lots more CA and not so many hypopneas on this one...

Wave form data from 07-12 has been uploaded here:

WTF??? I just clicked on the link, which has been removed. I wanted to admire my waves before I headed off to bed- and got an error saying the file was damaged beyond repair. If it's not one thing, it's gonna be another thing. Or something like that, anyway. I took my waves and supposited them elsewhere. So there!!

https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid= ... 2&hl=en_US

That is a big link. Much bigger than the other link. And as of right now, it is working correctly.

edit #1 to correct typographical error
edit #2 to say STF??
edit #3 to post new link

By the way, Paper_Nancy, though I have just been monitoring this post (and learning), there is one way that I can help ... with the Quattro and Quattro FX full face masks. Yes, both can leak. On the ASV machines this is especially true. With the ASV machine, the swing in pressure from the minimum EPAP to maximum IPAP can be pretty dramatic. This swing tends to cause the both Quattro full face masks to leak. For that matter, I've found it seems to cause ANY mask to leak.

So, how can I help? Well, using a mask liner seems to help the mask maintain a better seal. I personally have used and can recommend both the REMzzzs mask liners and the Pad-A-Cheek mask liner for the Quattro masks.

http://padacheek.com/PAC_Maskliners.html
http://www.remzzzs.com/

You can also make the mask liner using a micro-fibre material.

It is not a cure-all. They still leak. Just no where near as much as without them. Anyway, I hope this helps contribute to the mother of all ASV posts.

NotMuffy wrote:(BTW, is the lab at 4100 feet? Is your hemoglobin normal?) but it looks like yours is going to be a tad low regardless who's used, but as previously noted, based on the nocturnal oximetry, this may not be a surprise.
Lab is at 4100 feet, yes. HGB was 12.6 (normal range= 11.7- 14.9) on 12 April 2011.

NotMuffy wrote:Towards that end, getting the raw data from your NPSGs would be helpful (perhaps even the one from 2006). If that's a possibility, then we'll figure out the logistics
Toward that end, when I call the sleep lab, what do I tell them I want? Raw data? Pulse Rate Graphic? *.edf?

Thanks, John. I have used Remzzzs and also mask liners I made out of cotton fabric similar to that used in the Remzzzs. They did cut down on leaks sometimes. Sometimes the leak rate with them on was actually higher. Go figure, huh? One thing they did was make the leaking quiet. No more vibratory sounds of leaking to frighten the dog... And they helped immensely with the rashes and skin blistering I was getting where the mask contacted my face.

Course it does. Even though it was something I already knew, it may be helpful to someone else. And besides, it felt good to read a post and be able to say, "Yes! I already knew that!!" instead of my usual, "Wow, I'm gonna need to think about that for awhile."

Is there any reason in particular you are using your machine in BiPAP mode with no back-up rate? That ABR of 12 is quite low and may be the related to your high CA numbers. Also, in Encore Pro 2.5, I have found that graphing Unintentional Leak never gives any data for the graph. You will probably want to switch that to Total Leak, which you can do in the settings. I forget where, exactly, off the top of my head.

My guess would be that CA are treated under full ASV mode and get logged as hyponeas, whereas untreated they remain CA?

Wow, the extra waveform data is really cool! So, how does the System 1 ASV compare in comfort and in sound volume to our older models?

Looks like there are three ways you get a CA. One is after a big breath (sigh?) another is at the end of a hyponea and the third is you just drop a breath. Thank you for sharing this data.

The PRS1 unit is quieter and much lighter/portable than the "tank". Comfort-wise, I find it easier to breath against and its not as jarring, in my opinion, when it initiates a breath. The waveforms are very nice to look at too to confirm the sleep therapy flags/calculations are correct.

Why yes, yes there is. Explanation is in post by Paper_Nanny on Thu Jun 30, 2011 7:49 pm. The posts immediately after and before that also are related to the reasons for running my machine that way.

I shall look into the setting in Encore Pro 2.5 and get that changed. Thanks for the information.
