Hi SU.

Two reasons it happens to me:

1) Low in potassium.
2) Stress - That's where mine goes. Remedy??? Full body massage. Drink lots of water afterwards to wash out impurities.
If the stress is real bad, I go a couple of times.

That's a sign of low potassium. Bananas are good, dried apricots higher, and best if you're limiting carbs is V8.

BTW, the mag oxide (thinkg Phillips Milk of Magnesia) is really only good as a laxative, the oxide form is nearly impossible for us to convert to the ionic form the body needs for the 300 biochemical reactions that require magnesium. Any other form is better as a supplement. Magnesium relaxes smooth muscle tissue.

This is how I've always best handled it too. Especially upper back, neck, shoulders, scalp, and face.

I wonder about B12. Even though it only naturally occurs in animal protein, and I have animal protein three times a day, my naturopathic physician still recommended it to me (sublingual, for better absorption).

My eyelid started twitching when I read this thread. (No, I'm not kidding. ) Been happening for days now, driving me a little nuts. I almost always have bananas in the house, but I was out of them and hadn't been to the store (which is about 35 miles away) in a couple of weeks. Upshot: Bought a bunch on Monday, have eaten three so far, and the eyelid twitch is gone.

Ah, a self-fulfilling prophecy!

Yes, but now you're constipated, so what good is that?!

Nope! I lost my gallbladder several years ago, and I'm very rarely constipated. Bananas rock!

I have never heard of this relationship between gallbladders and bowel function. I probably could have used all the money I've spent on Miralax for a gallbladder surgery!

Maybe it's just me, but that's what I've experienced in the years since the surgery. Obviously, I wouldn't advocate any surgery just for the hell of it; mine was an emergency situation (first and last time I ever had gallstones - talk about pain!).

FWIW, I prefer to use food solutions over medication whenever possible. Prunes, nuts and/or corn have always worked for me if/when I'm constipated. I like all of those, even when I don't have a problem.

Hey! I looked at this thread to learn something new about blepharospasm. Imagine my disgust in discovering the thread is about BM's.
Just kidding.

Guilty as charged!
