Do a little googling on dishwasher phosphate. You can buy TSP phosphate and mix it with your dishwashing detergent and get clean dishes again. Be sure to read up to find the correct concentration and mix it properly.
If you're worried about mixing a "harsh" chemical with your dishwashing detergent, don't worry. You've been using phosphate to wash your dishes up until it was banned. Also the other chemicals in your dishwashing detergent are harsh as well. Try putting just one grain of dishwashing detergent on your tongue. Have a glass of water handy to wash it out. Phosphate in particular is one of the chemicals your body needs (in low doses) to survive.
Also, turning your water temperature up or getting a dishwasher that heats its own water may help. Look for a dishwasher that is certified to "sanitize" and try that setting. You may have to turn the "water heating" function on. It's often turned on by default to give the machines a better "energy star" rating.
By the way, most of the big consumer products companies have given up on phosphates. It's hard to find phosphate detergent even in states that haven't banned it.

Our dishwasher is way past due for replacement, but our budget cannot survive it. I think it's time to teach the kids how to wash dishes Dry them and putting them away, too!
Wonder if the slave labor is going to be worth the whining!

We used to buy TSP (trisodium phosphate) in the paint aisle of the hardware store.
It was intended to prepare surfaces about to be painted--I think it removes dirt, grease, and other crud.
Sounds like a plan. . .

Washing dishes is the best time to ask and hear about their day and to tell them stories about yourself they've never heard. My bet is they won't whine : )) Eventually perhaps you can slip out of the process to get some much deserved alone time : )

And that's a good thing for all of us!

Under my current insurance, I can get a new mask every 3 months with a 20% copay. Also, new tubing every 3 months and a new humidifier chamber once every 6 months. My new health insurance kicks in 7/1 so I am hoping the 20% copay doesn't change. That makes a new mask less than $40 if it doesn't.
