Dry and burning tongue and mouth

Post by Rhodas » Tue May 24, 2011 4:45 pm

I have not used my cpap for 8 mo. I have a mouth and tongue that burn and saliva seens to be scarce. One night I woke with a very dry mouth while using the cpap so have not used it since. This is verey irritating and makes it hard to eat and taste things. Does any one have any suggestions?

You have to keep your mouth shut. Air is blowing in your nose and coming out your mouth. Some of us use chin straps to keep their mouth shut. Some tape their mouth shut and some have to use a full face mask. I wake up some nights with a dry mouth and its not pleasant.

Keep working at it. Good luck.

Does your mouth and tongue burn all the time, or just when using CPAP?

Google 'thrush'.
Mouth breathing deprives the good microbes in your mouth of moisture; then they cannot kill the bad microbes.
Somebody needs to create a gum or lozenge that restores your mouth to a healthy chemical and biological balance--and doesn't taste bad.
I eat probiotic yogurt for breakfast when my mouth feels raw.
