I have a hose cover on the heated hose for my 604. The hose runs UP from my cpap to a hanger on my head board, then down to my face, no part of the hose is under the bedcovers. Used it that way for a year and no fires or over heating.

the trials and tribulations of the S9 and the vaunted
climateline hose. What a POS.

It does have the reinforced connectors and it gets a
workout everynight. It comes w/a cover.
When it is really cold, I put it under the covers....nice.
A couple of times I forgot to unplug it and left it on all day.
No problem.
If you wanted to use an elbow to compensate for the
bassackward ergonomics of the S9, you could.

I have no doubt that this hose will continue to provide
excellent service for years to come. Looking at the
cost of the ClimateLine and the frustration w/breakdowns
and hassle of returning or purchase of another one,
this hose is cost effective and extremely functional.

Hey, Resmed, I probably fell off the turnip truck at night,
but it wasn't last night.

I feel for you Bob, and others. I have given up on the ClimateLine tube completely. My mouth was NEVER as bone dry as it was using that thing =(

Especially after having seen the flimsy construction, I am not going to try it again.

My first climateline hose cost around 30 dollars but it tore around the cuff area so i repaired it with F4 tape.
I thought i was good until last week when i noticed inside the hose had collapsed in the area of the repair.
The airway was restricted by about a third. I read that this may be preventing the FOT (pulse of air) from working correctly.
So i decided to order a new one, now they are $51.

Here is the description from cpap.com

The ClimateLine Tubing has an internal heated coil and mask temperature sensor that eliminates rainout in the hose. Climate Control algorithms measure temperatures from the humidifier to prevent condensation from forming. The ClimateLine Tubing can use the optional SlimLine Tubing Wrap to prevent that "plastic on skin feeling".

I think they should remove the bit in bold, It just aint right really cos it don't fit. And when you call them they tell you its not designed for use with the climateline hose.

I haven't had any problem at all w/ my Climateline hose, and it's almost 9 months old with something like 2400 hours on it. The six month replacement is still in it's bag in the bathroom cupboard.

using the Ozzy heated hose w/the S9.

Same thing happened to me U.B. So I thought what the hell I'll just put it on my slimline in case I use it. Nope, will not fit. I had to put F4 tape over the ends of the hose where its connected to the rubber cuffs because of a leak. Will not zip over the ends. So I am a proud owner of a Resmed hose cover that will never be used by me.

Home made always sounds better to me--minimal investment, disposable.
Also, I'm really stingy.

If you bought the cover to prevent rainout, can't you pull the cover to your end of the hose, leaving the portion behind the machine uncovered?

Not ideal, I know. But then neither is putting all that gear on your head every night

Someone from cpap.com must have seen this post. I got an email explaining that they have updated the web site and they have kindly refunded my money. How nice of them

Also i think Resmed have redesigned the climateline hose. Not by re-enforcing the cuff as you would expect but by making the transparent hose plastic thicker. I have my hose hanging down from my bed head. My orginal hose was so limp it used to hang straight down. My new hose is stiffer and hangs out a few inches from the bed head.

I didn't know the Climateline is a different length than the Slimline. Which is longer? I have a Snuggle (or is it caused Snuggie?) hose cover on mine. I hope it's not a fire hazard. I just prefer the feel of the fleece than the hose. The length is fine but it looks looser than your picture.

Bob, I bought a nice 9 foot long fleece hose cover from a lady on ebay with the name Designs by Duval. I have two of her hose covers and I LOVE them. The are extra long...since I have a 2 ft extension on my house in addition to my climateline. No rainout and no issues. She is also a fast shipper and has very reasonable prices. She is thus far the only one I have seen that has 9 foot standard hose cover. Its single layer fleece so not too heavy to go over the heated hose.

It seems to me that if the Climateline hose got hot enough to set a hose cover on fire, it would be a fire hazard if covered by a blanket or pillow as well. Also, this forum would be full of posts by S9 users who had been badly burned in their sleep by the dangerously hot hose.

The Clinician's manual says to "avoid" covering climateline tubing, but does not say why.

AIR TUBING WARNINGS
If damage to the air tubing results in air leaking, stop using the air tubing.
Do not wash the air tubing in a washing machine or dishwasher.
Avoid covering the ClimateLine air tubing with materials such as sheets or blankets.
The ClimateLine is designed only for use with the H5i.
ClimateLine is not compatible with supplemental oxygen.

Curiously, there's nothing about this in the S9/H5I tubing info guide.
