To me liners seem to be a PITA-- rather than liner it I'd probably just stay with the Sleepweaver which I'm pretty happy with but for which I have some durability questions on -- not sure its going to last the 3 months between insurance mask replacements. (Note: most of my other mask trials are out of pocket so this may not really be an issue...)

Either I don't really get the itchiness with the Activa or its just not bad enough to bother me or not bad enough to overcome the slight pain the Activa gives me under my nose after a few days. I'm good for 2 days , 3 tops in the Activa before I need to get away from it for a few days which is why I want to give the FX Nasal a few more days before making the call.

I notice the sizes are only "Standard" and "Wide".
If i wear a large Activa LT, do you reccomend a standard or large?

My Mirage FX is a Small w/a Medium headgear. I had no problems side sleeping, either side, as well as sleeping on my back. I also have had good luck side sleeping w/the Quattro FX. I do use a down pillow that can be scrunched and punched into a comfortable shape and position for me.

I would think you might want to go with the Wide -- I've got the standard and, to be honest, it seems to be tiny compared to the medium Activa although it does fit. I've never even seen a large Activa so don't know how much bigger than the medium it might be.

Took a Large-Wide Activa LT (which was a little too large) back to DME and left with a Standard/Medium headgear Mirage FX. I'm a 222 lb. man with a large (but not quite Jimmy Durante) nose. It's a small thing - made in Australia and the bag was made in China. I had a super bad night last night and it was the third night in a row my Swift FX pillows and Activa LT whipped my fanny. I barely stayed awake having lunch with my wife today so I knew I could drop right off into a nap - don't care to nap during the day as I usually pay the price at night but this time I didn't care. Dropped right off for one hour until disturbed by my dog.

1. Nose did not itch the first time. There was no skin aggravation from the mask's material.
2. The mask covered my nose well and left no marks in that short hour.
3. Probably would have slept longer but 'Daisy' woke me up (my avatar).
4. No noticeable leaks (flow was 29L/min at 8 cm H2o) - mask is rated at 28L/minute flow at that pressure.
5. It is super quiet and never reached the top pressure set at 12.5 cm H2O. NO way it will disturb significant other.
6. Its picture doesn't do it justice - smaller mask than it looks to be.
7. Had a super nap but who wouldn't as tired as I was?
8. Could have a new 'bestie' with this one but I bragged too soon on the Swift FX.
9. I have no doubt it would be more stable during sleep movement than the Swift is.
10. Will give another report after several nights use.
11. Had 2 hypopneas and no snores, NRI's, nor apneas for the hour.

Oh yeah, I used no tape or straps for that nap. I envision a lot of folks liking this thing though and I do hope I'm one of them!

Well, call me lucky. Had a bug yesterday late and and lost everything I put on my stomach. Didn't even hose up last night (Monday) but haven't forgot to report. Get back to you soon. Wanted to keep this thread alive.

Sure hope you get to feeling better!

So – even though I only semi-slept for about 3.5 hours my first night with the Mirage FX. I decided to report anyway because future reports from me will be slow in coming as I have a problem to solve to enable me to effectively use the FX. That problem is the stiff 6’ hose that came with my DeVilbiss. I routed it up on the bed down my side to my waist and back up my chest to the mask. Well, it was my first night ever of bumping into a hose while moving around in the bed. Not too good.

A little background. So far I have securely fastened the hose to my HoseBuddy above my head and this worked well for the Swift FX as it has its own smaller hose hooked to the mask. It was roll over whenever and no problem – the HoseBuddy just swung with you. I must come up with some way to better utilize a longer hose (10') or either come up with a way to work from overhead

In summary, this tiny mask was physically moved around on my face but it was one tough little patoot!

1. Pressure (APAP 8.5 – 12.5) Av – 8.6 Max – 9.0 Almost a straight line
2. Av leak 33.9 - 2 quick peaks to 40 – Not bad considering the tussle – Normal flow for FX @ 8 is 28cm.
3. AHI – 3.7 (Not bad for me as I bounce around from an occasional 2 to the 5’s)

I was awake when I got up with it and observed no marks on my face. I like the headgear as it provides good stability. Compared to the other 6 or 7 masks I’ve worn this one most mimics wearing nothing. I think it has a big future with XPAP’ers and realize many tape and strap with nasal interfaces, adding to the accoutrements on your face but I only donned an Under Armor skull cap to contain my hair as it is thin and easily entangled in headgear. The skull cap is the kind you see on footballers’ heads when they remove their helmets. I apparently keep my mouth shut pretty well even after my chin drops from sleep.

Didn’t mean to bore anyone being too verbose but different folks can mine different information according to their particular needs with more said. I feel this mask will be a boon to active sleepers. I would offer only one piece of advice “before” trying the Mirage FX – Have a plan for your hose prior to using it the first time and you shouldn't be bothered much. I believe my leakage would have been much lower had I done so. IMHO, this mask might take over as #1 for those who use nasal interfaces.

I saw one at my DME's yesterday. This thing looks very promising! It is tiny and very flexible. The cushion felt very comfortable. I am trying a Quattro FX at the moment because of ongoing mouth breathing and I am looking at trying to give up the chinstrap and tape business, so this nasal mask is on the back burner for me. My first night with the Quattro was pretty much leak city and not too good. If the Quattro does not work, I see a Mirage FX in my near future.

Is the cushion replaceable?

Is this new mask alot smaller than the Activa LT?

The cushion and the shell are one piece, there is a collar (for lack of a better word) that has all the headgear attachments that the shell snaps into.

Basically there are 4 pieces -- headgear, collar, shell/cushion and elbow connector. That's all there is to it.
Do not know whether Resmed plans to sell the shell/cushion separately but my guess would be that replacement would be of the shell/collar/elbow as a unit.


As for size compared to the Activa -- maybe half the size -- maybe a tad smaller than that.

Just looked at the site under "returns". Looks like the real deal. Now even less reason to deal with my DME.

I just got put on cpap, and the mirage fx nasal mask is wonderful, I have tried on several other masks, but this one was best for me, I really like it!!
