KatieW wrote:Thanks everyone, for your comments. I'll pass these on to DH, and let him decide. It sounds like he should eventually try both. He is a side sleeper, and currently uses the papcap which route the hose overhead, so he might prefer to start with the LT, for a similar set-up. I know some of you have modified the FX, so the hose goes overhead.
Katie you might want to consider the older aieomed headrest model - not sure how available it is. I tried LT, liked it but exhalation toward my spouse was a problem. Tried to Fx and never got comfortable or good numbers, then switched to headrest. Took a little while to get adjusted but's been my main mask since last fall, with LT as backup.

The headrest also works great with the papcap and the hose management system from pur-sleep.

I tried the FX last night and I LIKE that it vents downward in a more diffused way. The LT vents straight out, in a pretty powerful constant stream of air. My eyes get dry even just from the air circulating around them, so I think the FX venting downward is a bonus.

dtsm, the headrest is my favorite, and I do have a "backup supply". I'm trying to imagine the papcap with the headrest...do you just wear it on top of it? Have you modified your headrest, do you use the original headgear?

I'm enjoying all the different opinions, which I expected, from such a diverse group.

To those using the FX, do you take the pillow off the stem/hose daily to wash it? I just worry that it will get stretched out having to stretch it over that thing that I'm calling the "stem"!

(Sorry to semi-hijack)

I do remove the pillow from the hose to wash. Probably wash every other day. No problem with that opening being stretched out of shape no matter how tricky it wants to act sometimes. My nasal pillows last a long time (months).

First few weeks, I bent and tried to configure the nasal pillow to get a 'perfect' fit. After I got used to the noise, etc., replaced with nasal pillow as is and have not modified it at all [although i did get advice for rested gal on her mods]. "As is" works just fine for me.

I wear it over the papcap, no problems at all, found the chin strap more effective than blue tape.

And fortunately I too have a backup supply - my current nasal pillow has been going strong since last Sept!

I use the LT. Have not tried the FX. With the LT, I can fall asleep on my side. The only problem with the LT is that it "blasts" my wife when I face her.
