So I go in yesterday to pick up some items, the clinician guy I have been dealing with asks me if I noticed a difference between the S9 Escape and the S9 Autoset. I tell him that since I only used the Escape two nights and the Autoset for 6 nights, I really coudln't tell the diffence, both machines were quiet and the hudimifier worked better than my old M series. Then he asks why it was so important to me to get the Autoset. I told him that I wanted to know what was really going on with my sleep situation. It was important to me to be able to look at the reports and know what was happening. I guess he just does not get it.

Y'know, that's just the problem, isn't it? It's like when you fly on a 737-700 and you forget yourself and pick window seat in aisle 9. There's no window in Aisle 9. Sure, you're just a passenger to the airlines. Just a piece of cargo. You get to your destination just the same as the person in #8A or #10A. But you want to see outside. You want to see where you're going.
It's the same thing with your data. Everyone (well, most folks, anyway) wants to know what's going on. To see outside. And to help their own therapy. They're not just passengers in Aisle 9.
Ask a diabetic to go without their glucose meter sometime and see what it gets you, Mr. DME-Dude! So why treat CPAP users any differently?

My CPAP doctor set up my S9 in fixed mode starting at 9 and ramping up to 11, which is where my sleep study said it should be. After studying the book, I decided to change it to Autoset mode, which I did Saturday night. I programmed the Autoset for a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12. First two nights the machine cruised along in the 6 to 8 mode, increasing to 11 for a few minutes, getting as high as 11.9 for one five minute period. It might be wishful thinking on my part, but I think I feel better not being subjected to a constant 11 pressure. My leak factor with the Flexifit went to 9 on the 95% scale, AHI 1.1. (It has been running .5 to 1.3).
Should I increase the top setting to 12?
Thanks
