To get back upright on an inversion table, at least the ones I've seen, all you have to do is put your arms at your sides. The problem is that when you do that, you start to flip, and it's a very natural reflex to put your arms out for balance, and that takes you back to the fully inverted position. The instinct to seek balance while flipping is very strong, and hence, some people will get stuck even if there is someone there coaching them.
One way to get out of this predicament is to grab your belt and hang on to it while you flip to the upright position. Make it quick grab, as if you take your time, your arms may go out for balance before you can get your hands on your belt. Depending on your height and where the pivot point is, crossing your arms over your chest might work too. Either way, it will feel like you're falling uncontrollably, but as fast you can say "whoa!!!" you'll be right side up again.
