Sister, I'm sorry to read you're having such a difficult time.
What did your doctor say about your having so many side effects, and no relief? You did bring that to his attention, I hope.

Oh yes, I tried to talk to him,he said,'sometimes we have to tolerate the side effects of a medication for awhile to get better.
I took a long list of side effects on paper and gave it to him to read.
I am so miserable, at this point I am wondering if it is worth it to go through this, and even if we are lucky enough to get the sed rate down and under control I'll have to stay on low dose prednisone for years with the possibilty that it may come back at any time and have to start all over again.
I feel today that it's not worth it. My face is so swollen,I don't even want to go out anymore.
Depressed? yes I am, and I think anybody else would be too.
This is no fun at all!

No, it isn't.

But please do your best to find some fun for yourself. The fact that the world is full of people most of whom don't have a swollen face shouldn't keep you from going out. Look them straight in the eye - you've done nothing wrong, and how you look is not who your are -- despite the fact that society brought us women to think that's the most important thing in life. Some of us has more have things happening to then that others do - through no fault of their own. Your real friends won't care less for you because of how you look.

If you haven't read "When bad things happen to good people" perhaps now is a good time for you to do it.

I hope the medicine will have you feeling better soon.
Take care.
O.

I can also recommend reading "A Delicate Balance: Successfully Living With Chronic Illness". You clearly are dealing with the impact of a chronic illness. Though it's not as easy to explain as MS or chronic pain, it is just as real. The fact it is hard to explain to people makes it that much more difficult for you.

Here's hoping you will find peace with your situation and your doctors will be able to help you as much as possible!
