I strongly suggest you take the piece of crap they sold you back and get it exchanged for a machine with data capability preferably an auto. Don't let them push you around. The insurance codes are the same they are just making a fast buck at your expense so use your sleep deprived nasty moods and take it out on them.

I can't take the CPAP back, I've had it for 2 years now.
I have an appointment in two weeks with my sleep doctor and I'm going to ask him about getting an Autopap with data capabilities.
I was just wondering if anyone has an idea of why I would do better on the Auto rather than the CPAP?

Ah. Typical. Use the APAP to get a range. Dispense plain jane cpap with no data and no way to know what is going on. No way to monitor leaks, nothing.
I suppose you could increase the pressure from 9.5 to 10 or 10.5 and see if that helps. You would be surprised that a small increase or decrease will make much of an impact but it can. I am worse in REM also (documented in sleep study). I would get little clusters or groups of events in a time frame showing on the reports that roughly correlates to a REM timeline. Not too long ago I lowered my minimum from 10 to 9. The clusters came back. Changed it back to 10 and the clusters are gone, only random single events show on my report. I will tell you that when I have clusters of events, I do notice the difference in how I feel even if the overall AHI is still quite acceptable.
I don't know where you are at, what your insurance situation might be or if you can push for at least a data capable machine.
Would it be possible to buy a new or used data capable machine from somewhere and not use the plain jane machine?
You really need to be able to see what is going on. Flying blind.
I see you have CPAP for 2 years. APAP trial because not feeling so good. Which machine do you have now? We can figure out how to change the pressure if you like.

I have the Fisher & Paykel 600 Sleep Solutions CPAP. I really didn't know anything about CPAPs when they gave me my first machine. Now, I know that you really do need a data capable machine.
I guess it wouldn't hurt to try and increase the pressure. I have two weeks until I see my sleep dr again and I'm going to ask for an Autopap with data capabilities.

I went online and found out how to adjust the pressure. I'm going to try it at 10.5 and see if I feel any better.

Wouldn't hurt a thing to try a little bump in pressure.
You might actually do better with APAP and the ranges because of REM related events. My sleep doctor has told me to leave the minimum at 10 and let the maximum be wide open (doesn't disturb my sleep) to get those rogue events that sometimes need more pressure. I used to see 15 cm a lot but not so much anymore. I find that using 10 most of the time is much better than using 13 or 14 all the time to get those occasion rogue events.

I just recently went from a CPAP to an APAP. I had my CPAP for about 4 years. My insurance didn't have a problem at all covering the new machine. They told me it was a different prescription and the 5 year wait to replace the machine didn't apply. Before you say you can't get a new one it never hurts to check with your insurance.
