With the ComfortGel, the leak rate for my pressure is about 28. There were a few spikes with the S9 that went above 30, but no where near what it was like with the M Series.
Don't forget that Resmed machines already subtracted the intentional leak/vent rate for you. Unlike the M Series machine which makes you do the math yourself.
That said, these machines are supposed to be able to compensate for some leaks. You may be pushing the limit but your lack of many events is excellent. That is why I asked how are you feeling?

I think that I'm getting better results with the S9. The M Series is not a bad machine, I just think that it wasn't the right machine for me.
IIRC the leak on the S9 is compensated for, so anything above 0 is not good. i.e. Your actual leak is 28 + 30 = 58
Or is it
To tell the truth, I've no idea. Tis why I'm a posting to see what is "normal" readings with this software.
New things means learning new things. LoL

Get yourself one of those expensive Pelican cases to carry your CPAP gear in when you are in the field. You know, those hard plastic cases special ops guys use to carry and ship expensive accurized rifles and optics and gear in. They are pricey, but probably worth it. They are waterproof and shock resistant and have soft foam in the inside. I think they are even advertised as air droppable...or used to be.
I shoot NRA high power rifle so I know about the Pelican cases. If I was humping mine around in the boonies with my CPAP gear, thats what my stuff would be in.

Mikey,
The funny thing is, I do have one of those and use it everytime I travel with my machine. What happened was a fluke. It was on my cot that was being moved, and well, there it went. lol

Well, I'm still not at the point I was after the study, but I do feel a bit better than before. Only time will tell just how things go with this. I think that I will need to use a little more brain power while I sleep and enforce myself not to move. I think that I'll have to wrap my blanket around me and keep my arms inside almost as if I was in my sleeping bag.

BTW, since you are in Germany already, you ever thought about just staying there after your military tour or career is over? I have been reading the German economy is the third best in the world and is based on manufacturing and exports. Whereas the modern American economy is based on service jobs (low pay, high stress, low skill jobs). We have lost most of our manufacturing here.
The Germans may end up becoming one of the world's superpowers along with China in the 21st century.
Here in the USA, we are falling apart. We have socialists in charge of our government, george soros types trying to take away our Constitutional rights like the 2nd amendment and IMO, America is well on its way to becoming a second world country. Or maybe even a third world country in a few more decades.
I have even given thought to leaving and moving somewhere else in the last few years. Germany and Switzerland would be two at the top of my list.

Mikey,
I've been thinking about what I'll be doing once I do get out. Most of it all depends on where my wife, who is Russian, wants to go.

Damn, I had a nice reply for you and got a time out error. So here goes again.
Here are my thoughts. Your AHI showing on the M Series report is great. The AHI on the ResMed is essentially 0. Your leak rate is all over the place on both reports. Your leak with the ResMed machine is not all that different than the M Series if you do the math and factor in the intentional vent rate that ResMed does for you. Your M Series shows high VS which could be hose movement noise.
In theory with the low AHI you should feel better. Since you report that you don't feel all that great then we have to think something else is causing your sleep to be less restorative. First suspect would be the leak. Is the leak causing the tossing and turning or is the tossing and turning causing the leak? Well, we really have no way to tell for sure. Gotta work on it to have any idea.
Your leak rate on the graph needs to be as close to a straight line as possible, hopefully closer to zero but even a straight 5 or 10 would be a huge improvement from what you have now. All those spikes aren't good.
Finally remember that we often have other issues that affect the quality of our sleep. Pain, caffeine, meals, bed, hours of sleep, etc. So you have some further detective work to do.

Brenda,
I'm thinking that the movement is causing the leaking. One thing that I have to get use to while sleeping is not having my head propped up so much. I use to use 2 - 3 pillows when I slept before I found out about my SA. I think that I'm trying to find that comfortable spot while sleeping. I know that during my study, the tech kept telling me to roll back onto my back from my side. It isn't that I'm a side sleeper, but that the pillow was so flat that it was next to useless. Well compared to what I was use to.
I do have the Regensis pillow, and have been sleeping with that mostly. I might have to stuff it up a bit more. I'm hoping that it will help with the comfort issue and help keep my head normal.
I'm glad that I do have the people here to help me out cause I was thinking that I'd fixed the leak problem. Live and learn.

Leaks like you are having can (and will) keep the machine from sensing many events, so I have to agree w/Brenda. You need to improve the leak line first and foremost.
I use a knee high nylon to help stabilize my mask. The idea is not to press it more into my face but to keep the mask from moving away from my face when I crank on the blower.
You may have something else causing your leaks so feel free to search the forum for ideas for your mask. Cleaning it then adjusting will be a good place to start.
Also consider starting a notebook to keep track of things you've tried, what to try next, even things you ate that might affect your nite life
Good to hear you have a new machine, now get ready for deployment?

All good ideas and I will try them all. As you both are saying, the most important thing is to stop the leaks.
As for the last part of your message GumbyCT, two things happened after my unit got back from Afghanistan. 1st: We will not deploy any more from here. CoOl. The second is that my 1SG informed me the other day that I will not be going out into the field again from here. Just because of what happened the last time. On that one I'm a bit disappointed because I love playing OPFOR and helping the Soldiers coming here for training. Soon we're suppose to start using our toy tanks. Oh well. As I tell my 1SG, I'll do the best I can in the job I'm asked to do.
