We have friends in Pewaukee WI and I consider their weather in the winter to be relatively mild. Cold but certainly not frigid.....

I'm visiting my daughter while she recovers from her tonsillectomy, and here in Austin, Texas it's 62F. It did get down in the high 20's two nights ago...but that appears to be over now. Sending warm thoughts to those of you struggling with the cold!

16 degrees here in the northtown suburbs of Buffalo with a Lake Effect Warning until tomorrow morning. Looks like it won't be a newsworthy event, but we should pick up a total of 9--12 inches here at the house by the time it's over.

Central FLORIDA here.... 46º at the moment and we had a hard freeze last night inland and just to the north of me. Another round of freezing temps tonight. Farmers of fruit, vegetables, tropical fish, etc. spent all night protecting their livelihoods. I'd expect higher prices on fruit and veggies in your supermarkets as a result of this freeze.... depending on how much damage/loss was sustained. This is very unusual to have such cold temps in Dec. I imagine some records have been broken!

Yesterday was my first day back at work after 12 days in the Caribbean I got home in the sub freezing weather only to find my 18 year old HVAC unit totally frozen up, I mean 4 inches of ice on the inside and the outside. The fan blades were embedded and the unit was humming loadly and smelling like burning electrical wires. I grabbed the frozen hose and tuned on my outside water to see if I could melt the ice. THere I was an hour and a half later, standing in 2 inches of freezing water with wet gloves and pants, frozen toes when I heard sirens and fire truck horns getting louder and louder. I thought for a second it was the resque squad coming to save me from a sure frozen death, but it was Santa, riding on top of the fire truck with horns blaring, throwing candy to the neighborhood kids. It's a tradition in our town. No help there!

More snow expected Thurday with continued below freezing weather.

We had 5" of rain in a 24 hour period Saturday and Sunday, followed by a freak hailstorm last night, not to mention ongoing wind a heavy rain.

My office actually flooded some, and because hubby has lived here for his entire life (50 years) and his dad built the house, we know it has never flooded before. Yikes.

This is Seattle, where we expect rain and gray skies, but NOT hail or 5" inches of rain all at once! I'd love to see some snow right about now just to stop the dripping.

I had a few real nice comebacks for you. There were real zingers. Then, I remembered that Santa Claus has to fly over Alberta to get to Georgia. Therefore, I shall be nice for now and defer all comments until after Dec. 25.

The Miami area is supposed to be 32*F tonight. Last week, Ft. Lauderdale broke a cold temperature record that had stood for 169 years.

Completing the contest around the world: Actual temperature in Cologne/Germany is -2°C (28°F), around 15 cm of snow and the weather report announces for tomorrow more 10-20 cm of snow at temperatures around freezing point.
Problem: My daughter's husband has his 44th tomorrow - and I have to go.

43 F at 12:30 pm on Bainbridge Island, WA. some sun today, which is really good, because it's been flooding throughout the state. Our backyard had so much water we had a tiny rivulet running merrily down our sloped yard. For Bi, this is the beginning of winter. I have learned to love the rain, the cool mists and the colors that are deep and warm. Especially nice to listen to at night, and my S9 is so quiet I can hear every drop.

Snow for Christmas would be GREAT, but, oh, well. Off to sleep. Night all.

haha! Here in Amarillo, the northern most part of Texas, we hit a record-breaking 76F this afternoon. Right now,a few hours later, we're under a winter storm watch. I can't believe it was higher than Austin.
