I'm guessing the actor himself really does use a cpap... from the sounds of it, they really turned it on and it didn't look like he was new to using it.

From what I could tell from when I watched the clip online, it looked like a comfort gel. Thing is, the gel part looked like it had been removed.

It looked like the mask was upside down to me.

No, the mask was on the right way, just had the hose rotated so that it went over his head and was held that way with some velcro.

I saw this, too, and was pretty annoyed by it. It's a mindset that says a person, like me, that needs a full face mask because of mouth breathing, just isn't trying. I can and do breathe through my nose before I fall asleep. It's actually very normal and natural for me. But I have sinus and congestion issues and during the course of the night, my nose gets really congested and I CANNOT breathe through it consistently. I need to be able to breathe through my mouth at that point in order to, uh, breathe. Mouth breathing with a nasal mask is not pleasant at all.

While I respect those that have chosen to tape their mouths and are successful with it, the idea of that with a plugged up nose is scary to me.

Even the DME owner had that mindset that EVERYONE can and should use a nasal mask. Despite the issues with his RT, I'm grateful that she had a better attitude about it and was in favor of my switching to a full face mask. I do believe that I would have given up completely if I was FORCED to try to use a nasal mask.

I don't watch the show, but I watched this clip. I laughed out loud when, after he turned on the machine, he continued to deliver lines!! And he was on his back.....so the snores were expected! Clearly, he needs a hybrid or ffm. I felt the scene was inaccurate and not particularly 'funny,' but that's Hollywood!!
