Rick(sthnreb),
Has anybody confirmed that these cards will work with EncorePro?

snork1,
These are not "knockoff" readers. They are exactly the same readers, Mako DT3500, as supplied by Respironics. Same manufacturer.

The SmartCard is a vastly different animal from the memory cards used in cameras etc. I wouldn'r be surprised to see a move to the newer formats soon.

Derek,
I'm confused as to why you're asking if these cards work with Encore Pro. The SmartCards we're talking about come WITH Encore Pro as well as your machine. (But I imagine you already know that, having createad MyEncore and all that )

...Unless you're asking about the "5 for $25 cards" sthnreb mentioned?

Yes - it was the cards stnreb mentionned that I was questionning. The reason is that I was playing trying to read/write directly to a Respironics card, and I rendered it competely unreadable to Encore Pro. I'm wondering if the cards that Respironics sells are pre-formatted for use in Encore Pro.

these cards look like the ones used in hotel doors.

If so, that'd make them not only readable, but also writeable and I'd bet you need a specific writer to properly write to the card.

slow learner, but not THAAAAAAAAAAT slow

thanks! that was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back at 1:53 when our messages were still crossing in the mail. I was still busy tracking down Infineer, and PubliCard, and the hong kong Two-Factor company that sells them so cheaply. OK OK OK !! I'M CONVINCED !!!! The pictures nailed it! (I actually found a library card in my collection that was clearly one of THOSE). I was also busy ordering the cheapo card from Two-Factor, and spare cards which I will experiment with. (I consider all of life basically one big "experiment", not sure how it will turn out)

This is all very good advice, I'm glad I asked. THANK-YOU THANK-YOU THANK-YOU Derek, CollegeGirl, Einstein (bigziff), and all the others who have caused great enlightenment. My brain is still buzzing with all the new synaptic connections. Now if I could just get a little more OXYGEN up there. Maybe tomorrow.

<smacks forehead>

If I were to purchase the reader, would my card still retain the information for my DME (respiratory therapist) who I feel is more qualified to decipher than I am, or does it erase the current info once inserting the card?

Your choice - you can set Encore Pro to erase or retain the data when you download from the card.
