I think we can safely rule out that third one...
The tech may not be clairvoyant, but he may have a simple understanding that O2 is an effective therapy at altitude.
What does that have to do with the tech bizarrely claiming to know ahead of time that ASV will never work?

We already discussed that simple O2 understanding in the original thread HERE and especially HERE---long before the simple "fix" was implemented. That gets us back to the question I posed: WHERE was that simple "fix" in the first place? And that oxygen finally proved viable says absolutely nothing about whether ASV will or won't work...

O2 is not an ASV proof or disproof. And an extremely biased sleep tech behind the PSG controls is not an ASV proof or disproof either. I still want to know why stevealive wasn't "fixed" (adequately treated) in the first place...
A review of posts indicates that it was actually Laurie the Nurse who suggested that supplemental O2 could be an effective treatment tool.

The tech just sat there and wung dials.

Laurie the Nurse..... hmmmm

You talked to Laurie, already NotMuffy? Because my review of the posts shows the it was the nurse alright, but stevealive didn't mention her name.

So here's the latest interchange with the nurse from my sleep center. She's suggesting I add supplemental oxygen, not because my levels are low, but because it might help with my centrals. I'm not eager to go that way, as I'm pretty well aimed at an ASV trial. Being as tactful as I could be, I asked about the possibility of another sleep study with an ASV. She said I would qualify for one, and she would suggest it to the head doctor, along with her thought for the oxygen. I even had the thought to ask if their sleep techs were experienced with the ASV machine, and she said they were. So I have to wait until later in the week to hear a final decision. But at least I'm this far along! I couldn't have done it without the education and support of this forum. I'll let you all know....

And twiddled his thumbs. And posted diatribes on the internet when he was supposed to be watching his sleeping patients. Do you think Laurie and the sleep lab head know that already? About Mr. James Anderson's posts, I mean?
Rested Gal wrote:Calist told me (in open chat) that "Stillwell" was not his real last name. He told me his name was actually James Anderson. He also typed out his RPSGT registration number. He said if I wanted to verify he worked in a sleep lab, I could call him right then. He typed out a phone number he said was for the sleep lab of Mercy Medical in Durango, CO. Said if I called right then, he would answer. I declined to call the number.

Another person (nicknamed gvz) was in the chatroom that night. gvz said he'd call the number. Apparently gvz did call it, and he said "Calist" did answer.
Remind me, anyone who can, did that trolling thumb twiddling dial winging diatribing tech really check out as Mr. James Anderson, of the sleep lab for Mercy Medical in Durango, CO or was that another fake id? Because if he is Mr. James Anderson, of the sleep lab for Mercy Medical in Durango, CO -- isn't it about time we started using his real name?

Well, unfortunately the problem wasn't limited to a very poor titration outcome. The patient was apparently released with a substantial outstanding central problem, and had no clue about it until looking at his home-collected data and coming here for interpretation.

Highly unprofessional IMHO... That's putting it nicely.

My guess... NotMuffy probably saw the nurse's name here, under "Other Clinical Staff:"

RIght. She seems very sharp.

We need to extend an invitation to her to contribute to the board.

I've been on CPAP with an oxygen bleed for 3 years now. W O N D E R F U L!!!!!! My blood oxygen at night runs a constant 98%...has definitely made me look younger and my AHI runs 0.5. The new Flexifit 431mask has also done recent wonders. I have a VERY VERY quiet oxy unit...the Invacare. It sits right next to my bed ( not even 2 feet away)...and we have to ask if it's even on sometimes! I live at 5,823 feet in Prescott Arizona. I've had a theory about oxygen supplimitation and I now know it's right.

Does this mean that "he who must not be named" will be posting from a different IP address in the future?

That seems like a reasonable expectation.

My sleep study results showed a significant improvement in my sleep apnea on 2L O2 vs. ASV.

I noticed that this post was originally posted in 2010 and since then there has been more research on the use of oxygen vs. ASV.

Nothing is perfect but I am 100% compliant with using 2L O2 vs. fighting with a mask/pillows/etc. on ASV.

I feel more rested now and my blood pressure has significantly improved.

What is sad is insurance won’t cover a home oxygen concentrator even though my O2 treatment is effective. Their excuse is “it doesn’t work for everyone”, seriously does anything in medicine work for everyone?

And no objective data to back that up.
