First of all... thank you for being here. You can't possibly know how comforting it is to find a group of folks who share so much about CPAP. I simply don't have anyone around here to discuss this with and to learn from.

Currently I use a SoloLX that's about 5 years old and never been serviced. I have a passover humidifier, and I use a cpappro nasal system. I have not seen this particular cpap "mask" mentioned in here other than by me so I was wondering if some of you would mind taking a look at it and giving me some opinion. The web site is http://www.cpappro.com . No... please... this is not an advertisement. When I found this it was my only way of getting out of the bulky headgear the DME gave me.

I'm now seeing the Swift as a real alternative. Why am I looking at another "mask" if I like the one I have? Well the one I have uses 2 smaller hoses split off the main hose and I was reading on one of the APAP machine descriptions that devices using smaller tubing may make it difficult for the APAP to adjust itself correctly.

The machine I WANT to get is the REMstar Auto C-Flex with heated humidifier along with the card reader and software. Why? Because nobody seems to be monitoring me except me. ANother suggestion was made for a slightly less expensive machine using different software, but .... I don't know... this seems to be the one I'm drawn to.

Finally... I'm thinking I should get a full face mask for those times when I have a cold or something that would prevent me from using the nasal pillow type setup.

My insurance won't pay to replace my SoloLX unless it is beyond repair. It's not. It still works, but it's acting a little funny when it starts. So anything I do will be out-of-pocket and I'll have to save up for the machine.

I'm very interested in hearing whether I'm thinking along the right lines on this stuff.

It sounds like your machine has taken a "fall" from the night stand one to many times... And now it doesn't work very well.

Hi yardbird

I think you are thinking along the right lines. I have no insurance and had to pay for all of my own equipment. I was also going to be the only person monitoring my treatment. After some research, mostly in this forum, I decided to invest in the best and purchased the remstar auto with cflex & heated humidifier, plus the card reader & software. Not cheap (though much cheaper from US supplier than in the UK!) but it's nearly a year later and I've no regrets.

The machine is great for me and it's really reassuring to be able to monitor the results.

I can't comment on the Swift as I've not used it (I like the Mirage Vista but seem to be in a minority on that one!). I also purchased a full face mask in case of colds etc but I've never taken it out of the package as, remarkably and for the first time I can remember, I've gone a whole year without getting a cold.

Good luck

For a full-face mask try the Fisher and Paykel FlexiFit HC431. The respiratory therapist at cpap.com recommended it to me because it comes with 3 different cushion sizes so you have a good chance of a decent fit. So far it works great.
