My Intellipap Auto came in a sealed box from the online vendor I purchased it from, but it did have about 20 or so hrs on it. I didn't think twice about it since the vendor had to turn it on to set it to my Rx, and I assumed it was tested to be sure it was working properly. I also presume DeVilbiss does a test on each unit prior to packaging it. Perhaps DeVilbiss Marketing, a forum member, can shed a little light on this. I received the original manual with mine, but my vendor provided me with a photocopy of the CLINICIAN's manual.

Well, thank you for your responses. I've got to discuss this with hubby in the morning (I think he went out on a call or something, I came home and no one was home tonight....just me and the dog and cats.
Well thank you.....I'll have to call and raise hell with DME, insurance company, sleep doc who thinks this dme is so wonderful (this is the SECOND LIE I caught the DME in....R.T. told me this isn't a data capable machine, and that patients should not have access to xpap data)....bleah...OHHHHHHHHHH and remember when i found the motor hours # I also found that the hose was set to different than 6 feet.
well (lifting water glass)....here's to all of us and a Good Night's Sleep....
And Emilia, we're SO glad you did obtain that clinician's manual. It has been worth its weight in GOLD.....which i think would be a LOT of moneyh....

On a Remstar there are two hour clocks, one is able to be reset to "0", by the provider, one is factory set, at the factory they are run for testing, but not for 50 hours, up to 25 maybe, more than that is DME fraud, W/copyed book, please...... You have the privilage of getting used for new price.
I bought a new 2009 GMC truck with just under 100 miles on it. it was easy to figure out those were buyer demo miles, as it was just the truck I wanted, I took it, but they didn't lie to me!
How can you tell when a DME is lieing to you, "Their Lips Move". Get used to it! Jim

Before you "raise hell" you might want to ask them about the hours. There may be a reasonable explanation. I'm sure it is frustrating when things aren't what they seem or aren't what you expected but it is entirely possible that there was a simple error or an explanation. I don't agree with the RT comment about patients not having access to their data but consider that it may be his/her company's policy to not provide patients information about features they consider clinician info. After all, this is medical equipment that requires a prescription to purchase. Your DME should treat you with respect but I can tell you that they are likely to not go the extra mile for you if they perceive you as being rude and typically "raising hell" with someone could very likely be perceived as being rude.

Some of the units with time on them (like mine) were purchased from our dear CPAP.com. It would be nice to ask before we get all bent out of shape. I'll call when I get home from work if noone else has done gotten an answer.

We "burn in" every IntelliPAP to ensure it fits within our specifications of performance.

Is there an approximate number of hours for this "burn in" procedure.
Thanks for coming on the forum and answering this question!

hi there, when i said "raise hell" i was tired, sleepy, cranky, frustrated with dealing with lying DME and my sleep doc not calling me yesterday. I appreciate it that DeVilbiss Marketing has supplied "burn in" info. Because I'm exhausted I need to pick my battles very carefully, and considering the small amount of hours involved, I think I'll just let this go. Besides, I'm not the raise hell type....not even the whoop ass type...
But....DME wise, and sleep doc/clinic wise, I do feel a little older and a little wiser (thanks to ya'all and this experience). Being exhausted AND then going through the stress of learning to sleep with the mask on my face makes me feel a little cranky, but I expect that will improve also. I just need to improve my sleep, feel better, get back to work, and get my life back. Sometimes you just have to pick your battles, and today my battle is staying awake and not havin a nap, and I need to overhaul my bedroom and clear off my desk in there.
Thank you again for all your responses. I DO like this DeVilbiss Intellipap though very much. I did sleep better on nite 2. On night 1 my AHI was 6.5, and AHI was 5.5 on second night, so that is progress. I used heated humidifier to keep from drying out and that made me a little more comfortable.
Blessings, Junebug

It depends on the unit - normally it is between 20-30 hours. If a unit operates out of our spec, we will remove it, address the root cause and test the unit again.
On the photocopied manual - there was a delay in our supply of instruction guides from the printer. We did not want to delay shipping products to our customer so the decision was made to photocopy the instruction guides.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

It is sooooo nice that DeVilbiss monitors this forum. I am glad I purchased the Intellipap! Delvilbiss is allowing us to take control. Also Love the fact I can buy the cable and update the firmware myself and get the latest and greatest features.

So, if someone gets one with zero hours on it, it hasn't been tested and they should send it back?

Thanks Devilbiss! You are extremely helpful.
More and more I think my next cpap machine will be an IntelliPAP AutoAdjust, with software of course!

Thanks DeVilbiss. I also am VERY happy with this equipment (AND the pricing) since insurance pays for initial machine but I'll be purchasing a backup. I also am very pleased DeVilbiss monitors the forum. Very very nice PR there. Well thanks for your responses, I slept better last night and feel a little less suspicious and cranky today...
God Bless you and your day!

I would complain to your insurance company. Just a short quick call. Tell them that your DME sent you used equipment and they are charging for new. Insurance companies like to rail on providers that do fraudulent things. They will do all the complaining to the DME, even if it really was 50 hours "burn in". 20-30 hours is less than 50. Someone could have used the machine and returned it after little use.
