You know, you have a unique way with words and philosophical explanations.

But I think that this time you have excelled yourself.

Between us we have invented a new quotation that will reverberate down the centuries, and may even change the world.

Yup. After reading the half-hostile posts on this thread, I decided that watching my son laugh for the first time was more important. Categorizing wasn't THAT important to me. I just thought a little organization would be nice. I do respect all opinions.

Good night. Sleep well.

.............My answer was 'YES' - to categorise will never de-huminize.
Before you say 'NO' have a look at other forums.
Different categories makes a forum look neat and it works very easy.

On the other hand that may be just the thing that breaks this particular forum.

The dynamics of social media are often related to structure, and the structure here has served to deliver a very active and useful forum for a long time.

I know exactly what you mean! I heard about a thread that some nut job started to find a boyfriend for another forum member. 68 pages of drivel! In the end, the member was still without boyfriend, and had alternately crushed on and been crushed by the OP, who all the while was utterly clueless as to what she'd done to deserve either!

Then, there was a thread started about quotes. It's already on page 4, and not a one of the quotes has to do with apnea, CPAP, hoses, or even a good blow job joke.

So you heard about this? Was it not you that started these threads? I think that is what they mean about in this thread. I think that maybe CPAP Talk should put a chat section in so people like you and your friend can find boyfriends. CPAP should be about OSA nad some OT topics but to go as far as making it into your own topics about BJ'S , lesbians, etc. is so off topic that alot of us find it offensive. I feel for Jaylee, being abused by her ex but maybe instaed of making a thread to make her look like an idiot, maybe you should find her help instead?

Well, "IMHO", a certain amount of anger has always been allowed/encouraged.

The problem with that is there's no way to control it.

Then there are people who simply don't know how to behave if no one is watching them. They need the boundaries. While others don't.

But I find bigotry very offensive so we do need a category for morons and bigots after all.

New Yorker,

You missed the whole point of that thread! I do not believe that there was any intention of finding a soul mate for anyone, just some people passing the time having some fun, the same thing with the thread about quotes. If you find a thread offensive just do not read them! One thing we all have in common is the lack of sleep caused by Sleep Apnea, and with that lack of sleep for some irritability. These “OT” threads provide and escape and can be almost as therapeutic as the air blowing up our noses. Even if they were segregated into a category, I am sure that you would still read them and be just as disgusted.
I have a question for all those who want to see a more organized forum. Who among you would like to volunteer to moderate and make sure that only what belongs in a certain category is posted there. This is a time consuming and thankless job, which would create a lot of animosity and the bickering would make this place like other forums that I have visited and never found the personality that is projected here. The uniqueness of this place, the individualism of the people who post, and the level in which they want to provide assistance to those who ask for it is unparalleled anywhere that I have been.

I strongly disagree. If that were true, then that would mean that no one is/has been/can be successfully treated.

In that case, what's the point of doing all this?

I strongly disagree, NM. It would only mean that among forum members /posters no one is/has been/can be successfully treated. And those who were /are successfuly treated live their lives without visiting cpaptalk.

Hypothetically of course --

I propose two forum categories, then, hypothetically speaking:

(1) Posts from successful people
(2) Posts from unsuccessful people

I also suggest we sweep under the rug any statistical association between 'lack of success' and 'forum membership,' since the resultant guidelines/recommendations from health professionals could be less than ideal.

Well I strongly disagree with your strong disagreement of my strong disagreement.

Keeping in mind that
Sleepy Taz wrote:One thing we all have in common is the lack of sleep caused by Sleep Apnea...
I would respectfully submit that in many, if not the majority of cases where lack of improvement following initiation and acclimatization of therapy is seen, that there are one or more secondary issues that cause poor sleep. SDB is not the Root of All (Sleep) Evil.
