"I believe in the soul. I believe in....., the small of a woman's back. I believe in the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch.
I believe that the novels of Susan Sonntag are a bunch of crap, that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe in the sweet spot,
soft core pornography, and long, slow, deep, wet kisses that last for three days."

Sorry, cynical today.
Which reminded me of a saying often seen in Vietnam -
Praise The Lord....................... and pass the ammunition.
and I recently came across a Robert Bly quote I had not seen before -
The making of a man is making your body do what it does not want to do
Isn't it just!!!

and to finish on a lighter note (perhaps lighter than you think) from Boston Legal -
"Don't waste your time trying to get into my head. There's nothing there."

--William Shatner as Denny Crane

“Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without”

I remember it best in my Grandparents kitchen in Eastport Maine. I know it came from a poster from World War Two. It seems to accurately describe the thrifty nature of my beloved Grandparents.

You are the same today that you are going to be in five years from now except for two things: the people with whom you associate and the books you read.

What If

What if you slept
And what if
In your sleep
You dreamed
And what if
In your dream
You went to heaven
And there plucked a strange and beautiful flower
And what if
When you awoke
You had that flower in you hand
Ah, what then?

Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Not exactly a quote but a favorite piece from one of my favorite poets.

I knew a guy once with two dogs "Timex" and "Rolex". He was big on watchdogs.

A dyslexic, agnostic, insomniac will lay awake at night wondering if there really is a Dog.

Quote from a judge deciding a case on whether two establishments were fine dining establishments or fast food outlets:

"Neither of the Defendants' restaurants is the kind of place where wine and conversation enrich the long slow savours of anticipation while in the kitchen the aim is to create something special to titillate the appetite of the most exacting deipnosophist."

Change is inevitable, except from vending machines.
