I think hypothyroid symptoms are too nonspecific to be a reason to treat. For example, a few months ago, I was convinced that I was finally hypothyroid. I was dizzy, I couldn't think (even worse than usual), I was exhausted (even more than usual), etc etc etc. I even had some of the relative more specific of the nonspecific symptoms, such as being cold all the time. I urged my endocrinologist to test me sooner, and my TSH was 1.something. I discontinued a particular medicine, and these symptoms went away. Do I still have symptoms of hypothyroidism? Yes, but the symptoms I have could be symptoms of: Hypothyroidism, a sleep disorder, depression, and about a bazillion other things, because they are nonspecific.

Could I be hypothyroid with a TSH in the 1's? I think, as some have noted, if I were to take synthroid, I would probably end up hyperthyroid, no?

Why are some people treating their hypothyroidism with T3 and some are treating it with T4?

I need to go back and read this thread more thoroughly, although today is going to be another day in which I will only get to this at night, when I'm too tired to absorb it all.
