Roman, I think CBman has found another "playmate"! I'll have to keep my eye on you!

I always try to be as descriptive as I can be in any situation that arises with us because I know that most of you don't have a Mommy Dearest hovering over you!

Dori, I'm sure you're not Mommy Dearest. Wasn't she an alcoholic child abuser? (mother of Joan Crawford)

Bring corporal punishment back to the schools. Like in Texas.

Guys... don't nap without it. Someone I know well was recently found in her home dead, on her couch, sitting up. She had been napping. She was known to have sleep apnea but had refused to get a machine. She had finally been talked into it, we thought, and was planning to get one next week. Now there's not going to be a "next week" for her. Not using it while napping is JUST as serious as not using it while sleeping at night. I don't understand what makes people think the time of day makes you magically have fewer apneas. I actually have MORE events when I take naps than over the same time period while sleeping at night.

Edited to add: No need for sympathy posts. She wasn't my favorite person... but still, I would have never in a million years have wanted to see this happen to anyone.

I thought Joan Crawford was Mommie Dearest, not her mother.

Yes, you are correct. Joan was the Mother. It has been a long time since I have seen that movie.

Hi all,

Thanks Dori, I always love reading your kind, insightful posts.

You guys might like to check out this thread about napping, called, "Do you PAP when you nap?" It has a great poem about napping by mikemoran, king of CPAP comedy.

Hi All

There are some of us who, given certain conditions and precautions, can nap in safety, and have a restful nap.

see For Those Who Like To Nap - Update No 2

I don't like where this thread is going! I have made several posts about how I don't need my cpap in my recliner, but something has changed. Last week my 7 year old granddaughter told me I was snoring and asked me why I made "that funny sound" all of a sudden when I wasn't snoring. I've been sleeping in the recliner a lot lately just due to my erratic schedule with family responsibilites and a few very late nights (family member very ill). I've tried using the mask in the recliner and it was a fiasco of discomfort and leaks, although lying down it is golden. Lately I've been headachey, napping off and on all day, dragging - I know what it means. Gotta figure out how to make this mask work in the chair. I don't like this change, but I do like being a part of a group of people who "keep it real" and force me to take my head out of the sand. Thanks all.

Hi Kathy

Maybe it is time to start using an oximeter when you nap. Then, when conditions are such that you will have events, you can have it that the alarm will go off, and you will know that it is not the right time to have a nap, and you will not desaturate.

I always wear my oximeter when I nap. Usually I have a restful nap, but sometimes I start to desaturate, and the alarm goes off. If it does this a couple of times I give up on the nap.

cheers

Mars

Well, Mars, last November I bought an SPO7500 and got brain freeze trying to program it. Stuck it in a drawer till a couple weeks ago I was ready to try again, and now it won't even come on. Guessing the battery died. Note to self: Buy battery for oximeter.
