I am one of the lucky ones- after a few nights of waking up with my mask off I started sleeping 7-9 hours without waking. It helps that I can sleep through the night, most nights, without having to go to the BR.
If I do have to go I just disconnect the mask from the machine. Been on cpap for 26 months.

Took me about 5 weeks. They first started me with a full face mask, then a Liberty finally to a Swift LT which did the trick.
When I started the swift LT I was taping too. After several months of that I no longer needed the tape either.
It's been two and a half years now. I've slept 8 hours a night since.
Unless I am ill with a cold or sinus infection which really messes things up.

I have been on CPAP since December and I had no problem adjusting to it. From the first night I slept like a baby and i have not gone to bed with it since.

I slept thru the night a few times after four months, still on the learning curve, but I did get a glimpse of what normal people must do
with their nights.

First weeks results have averaged over 7 hours sleep with AHI at under 3. Feel guilty about how smooth its going.

First two nights I woke up a couple of times to figure out where fart sound was coming from, adjust mask, and go to the bathroom (pointless as ever).
Third night I went to bed and woke up 14 hours later in the exact same position I had gone to bed. I couldn't remember the last time I felt so rested, or the last time I hadn't got up at least once during the night to go to the bathroom. Turns out my bladder is CONSIDERABLY larger than a golf ball afterall

Well, I have been on CPAP for almost a year and I rarely sleep through the night. However, I didn't sleep through the night before CPAP either. On a positive note, I go to sleep much faster now, when I wake up at night I go to sleep much faster now, and a few nights I have slept 10+ hours...almost unheard of in the decade before I went on CPAP. I think I am one of those slow improvers. Most people would have given up on the CPAP long before I adjusted to it (it took me several months) but I am stubborn. I can't sleep without it. The gentle hissing of the vent port puts me to sleep!
