I don't know anything about your insurance or DME providers. And I am certainly not qualified to give anyone advice about anything related to CPAP. But there was a procedure I had to follow to fire my first DME Provider. I had to get the doc to write a "DME stop order" and return the rented CPAP machine and humidifier to the old company. I kept my mask because it was purchased. The doc write a new prescription for the specific machine I wanted and I was able to get it (and better customer service) from a different DME company.

Thanks Jules for the heads up about Lincare. I was sorry to read that their level of incompetency crossed state lines, but I'm not surprised.

And FRH I'll talk to my doc about the stop order. Very timely response. I see the doc this week.

It sounds like you are getting some good advice on getting things under control. The only other option I have for you is to contact CHAP who is Lincare's accrediting agency.
Good luck.
Kevin

I really wish you could deal with my DME in Jackson WY who is in fact Lincare, I have tried many diff masks all types shapes and sizes, Finally think I settled on the Swift FX I really like this one, They allow me to bring my card in and give me detailed reports at no cost (even tho I don't need them for that anymore) and are all around great to deal with, Don't know if it matters that I have Blue Cross Blue Shield for Ins. and have to meet a 3500.00 Yearly Deductible that I met rather fast this year so it is the year I am sorting out all my health issues

I am sorry you are having so many issues. I am going to see them tomorrow and will ask them if there is any advice I can give to a friend who is having issues with a Lincare in another location just to see what they have to say.

They told me that they are willing to change anything I need to make my therapy work for me.

Don't know where in NC you are, but see if Active Healthcare will take your insurance. I've been very happy with them.

I had to find a new DME after my first one refused to give me the machine I wanted. I ended up calling other DMEs that I found on the internet because my insurance company gave me a list of over 100 DME's that they work with - but not all of them had CPAP equipment or were located near me and I couldn't call all of them to find out. I did have to fax or email then DME's a prescription and my insurance information before they would give me details, and I didn't mind doing that.

And as I think someone suggested, keep a notebook of all the conversations you have with your insurance company, the DME's and you doctor, and the name of the person you talked to. I was so tired and stressed when I was doing this that I couldn't remember any details or when I talked to who. So I kept a list of the conversations and what I asked and what they told me. And then as more questions came up I kept a list of the questions I wanted to ask when I talked to them next time.

Good luck!
