I really think it is a pressure issue.I also got into it about my wife reporting that I still snore at times with the cpap, and I want an auto, (REMstar auto with cflex) we shall see.
Tom,
Don't know what your pressure is but exhaling can be a real problem for some of us. My pressure is pretty low at 7, but I still like to use it even after a year. I think you will feel a big difference with Cflex. It was a life saver for me especially in the beginning. An Auto should help even more.

Some do very well right away, but for some of us it's a longer process. My results are not dramatic, but I definitely feel better than preCpap. My new mask is the most comfortable I've had by far so I'm still making progress.

Hang in there. Believe me you are not alone in this. Besides, Lori won't let you quit!!

Esther

Thank you all.
That's great news Paul!!!! Congratulations! Now, if we can just get Tom to hang in there too.

Tom if the mask is giving you problems with leaking, not tight enough or to tight, try a different mask.

I knew in one night that so called best mask on the market belonged in the trash.

I am the happy owner of two Hans Rudolph Full FAce masks and I will not trade them for the world.

They have several different sizes as well as pieces you can purchase that make the mask more customized.

Good Luck and please don't give up.

Ok, let me recap for everyone,

I started my sleep study with a Profile lite mask
I was switched because of leakage to a ComforiClassic
I had no real trouble with either of these masks the night of the study.

I was diagnosed with Moderate, OSA

My pressure is 12

10-13-05 i was delivered a Breas PV10, IQ mask, and H2 humidifier

I immediatly had problems sleeping and exhaling, I was able to find out my mask used for the study and had a ComfortClassic brought to me.
It made no difference.

I hope to hear from the DME today about switching machines.

Once again, thanks for all the support.

Tom

Hi Tom,
I guess you can tell by now that there are a lot of people here that really care about you and want you to hang in there. We understand your frustration because we've lived through it ourselves and we know it will get better for you. It sounds like your DME is being cooperative by giving you different masks to try...that's great....take advantage of that.

I personally just had my 2nd bad night in a row. I've been doing CPAP since July and thought I had it all figured out but I just increased my pressure to 14 and switched masks (per Dr's orders) and the last 2 nights have been a real challenge. I thought about you during the night when I was struggling with my mask (I hope that doesn't sound weird...I'm really brain dead). Even though I'm exhausted right now, I know I'll survive my day at work and hopefully tonight will be a better night.

Try to relax and just go with the flow...it will get better!!! Let us know how you're doing.

Amy

Vent away, anytime, and as much as you need. That's why we're here for each other.

And to return to your original question: how long should you (or anyone) keep trying? The answer is: the rest of your life!

The good news is that if you keep trying it'll be a longer and better life than if you don't.

I got a call from my DME, good and bad news,

They are bringing a REMstar plus today with c-flex.
I wanted an auto but can't get it, even with the wife saying I sometimes snore with the mask on, (I go to bed before she does) I also wanted the capibility of the smart card so I could figure out what time I pull the mask off if it continues. Hopefully the c-flex will end my problems.

Once again thanks for the supportive words,, its nice to know I am not the only one have troubles with this thing. I just have a hard time accepting the fact I can't "beat" this thing.

Thanks,
Tom

Tom, I figure I'll never beat it, but I can get it to submit to a truce almost every night now. Good enough for me.

Yea but it has been kicking my butt,, and I problem with losing,, I guess I can take a draw though.

A little better news,,, I have talked them into a REMstar pro,, so I have the capability to watch for snores, apnea, or mask removal time.

Thanks everyone, It does help being able to seek advise of real people having them same issues.

THier,
Hang in there. I have been struggling for about a week now. The first few days I thought this therapy wasn't for me. The last 2 nights I have taken a mild sleeping pill about an hour before bed, fall asleep in my recliner, wife wakes me up and I go to bed. MUCH easier to get to sleep and have been keeping the mask on for 5 or 6 hours.

Just don't give up yet! The two nights I have slept with therapy, I have felt much better the next day and don't have those bags under my eyes.

Hang in there!!

THier,

Make sure they give you a "PRO 2". The "plain" REMstar PRO won't give you the detail data that you mentioned.

Best wishes,

Den

Tonight will tell,, I would like to experiment now,, but a group of friends voice chat tonight,,, I sound real funny trying to talk under pressure. I will post in the am.

Oh yea,, they told me to keep my old hose,, (1 week old) so I now have a spare hose and mask,, and still haven't paid a penny,,, this better work dammit.

Thanks again,
Tom
