Snore sounds high. That could make you sleep deprived which could lead to irritability, frustration and anger. What about calling the sleep doc and getting some advice on raising the pressure a bit?

By any chance is your sleep doc a neurologist who could also address leg pain? Many sleep docs here are also neurologists.

If you had this situation, how long did it take for you to even out?[/quote]

I think this only happened to me after the night of titration at the sleep clinic. It was so hard to get up and get out, first real sleep I'd had in years, and it wasn't nearly enough. After that I don't remember, but I definitely had to calm myself several times before getting away from the clinic. But I'm not a teenager! Good luck!

I fixed the machine in my profile. Sorry 'bout that.

Numbers look good (just looked up what they mean):

His AHI is 1.3 for 7 days and 2.4 for 30 days.

Large Leak is 0% for both 7 and 30 days.

Periodic Breathing is 0 for both 7 and 30 days.

He's averaging just over 7 hours of therapy (he missed 3 nights and has taken it off a few times).

Ty went to the sleep doctor (also a pulmonologist) last Thursday. The doctor seemed to think that 1) he could just not know what to do with the additional energy or 2) that prior psych issues we thought were gone were aggravated. Ty had an alphabet soup of dxes as a young child. He's seemed "fine" the last few years. Could he have been SO tired that he couldn't feel or act out to a degree that suggested a real problem? Doc wasn't sure. He made a referral for a psych eval (but due to circumstances, I'm having trouble following through on that).

But the sleep doc was thrilled with his compliance. He was at 90%!

Is this the part you were looking for feedback on? I may have missed another thread in which you described Ty's issues in more detail, as well as exactly what he is doing now, after CPAP, that is worse, so my comments are limited.

Does he have ADHD? If I recall correctly, in one of the TINY studies (meaning very small number of subjects) I read about ADHD post tonsillectomy & adenoidectomy, a minority worsened after surgery. The thinking was that perhaps in those kids, the extreme sleepiness had a dampening effect on the behavioral issues.
He made a referral for a psych eval (but due to circumstances, I'm having trouble following through on that).
A psychological evaluation is going to give you a lot more information, as well as a game plan.

Thanks for the input.

I tried to be fairly vague; but basically, he's annoying, having attitude issues, and is a bit aggressive. He seems to be feeling everything much stronger. He obviously has much more energy (good and bad).

He had, as a young child, several dxes, adhd being one of them.

Of course, I realize a psych eval may be necessary or at least desirable. Our situation is that we have left to vacation (or move?) to another state. The insurance said they will not cover anything (except an emergency) here. I am looking for an alternative here. I have not found it, but hopefully will.

Basically, I was just hoping to find if others had similar concerns emotionally or behaviorally after starting treatment.

Additionally, some information was asked about his numbers so I wanted to know if his said anything to anyone else. However, further research on my part seems to suggest that his numbers (from the machine) are ideal. Of course, if I'm wrong about that, PLEASE let me know.

UPDATE:

Ty is doing beautifully He just seemed to have an overnight change back to normal. It's really weird.

We did consider options psychologically. It's agreed he has some anxiety, but no indication of any dxes that he had as a young child (and hasn't shown any real signs of or been treated for in YEARS).

Maybe it was the sleep debt? Maybe something diet wise? Maybe huge changes in our lives (we went to VA from TX with hubby for work)? Maybe a combination?

We may never know.

Thanks for the support though

That is such WONDERFUL news!!! I'm sure you must be very relieved to see him doing well! And I'm sure he feels much better too. It's possible that you may see some improvement in his anxiety over time too. Many of us have experienced that with effective CPAP therapy.

I hope that this is the beginning of a new life for Ty -- and your entire family. Best wishes to you all.

Popotti - Your leg pain could be due to claudication (you'll have to look that up!) but it basically means your leg veins and arteries have narrowed, and you need to tell your doctor. There is very common surgery done to correct the problem in many people, but you should ask your doctor to examine you for that.
