Dear Friends,
My husband used his climate line for 8 months, when it suddenly burst due to the problem that Big S just described. It definitely was manufactured with a weak spot in it. Thank goodness we had a spare waiting, but it was inconvenient. It woke us up at 2 am when my husband had no air in the mask and the sound of loud air coming from the hose itself.
I am using an Aussie heated hose with my s8 Autoset and it VERY reliable.
I really wish that RESMED with fix the climate line hose!
Regards,
Jersey Girl

I'm coming a little late to this party, but thought I would share my repair experience.
I currently have the Climateline hose but the first hose that came with my S9 was different, perhaps the slimline? Anyway it didn't allow for the heated feature, which I am enjoying now.
A short time after the warranty expired the hose cracked where it meets the rubber end. I was irritated by this defect and wasn't willing to spring for a new hose right away. I also had limited supplies on hand to repair it. I ended up jury-rigging the repair using the 3M micropore tape I was using on my nose bridge and plumber's tape, the stretchy white stuff. The plumber's tape went on first to make it airtight, then the first aid tape on top to keep it in place.
It didn't allow for the hose to be washed without replacing the materials but worked fine for me for a couple months until I was eligible for a replacement with my health insurance.

Even the throw-away hose that my Hubby came home with from his sleep study fits the S9. Is it possible that the manufactures got something right? by making the port where the hose attaches universal?
Guess I can thank my lucky stars that my climateline is hanging in there. I did swap it out for the slimline from June to Oct when running in passover mode. So I've only used the climateline for 4 months. Thanks for the suggestions to look for failure cracks. At least we can be proactive, not startled awake in the middle of the night to the dreaded hiss of a leaking hose!

I've been using climateline hose now for two months..and so far soo good. I do have a hose cover on it because I don't like the plastic feel. I will be getting a replacement hose next month. My insurance replaces hoses every 3 months.

I've been using a climateline for almost 9 months, but because I read about the flimsiness (?) of it, I immediately taped the ends of it, and all my tubing, with silicone tape where the hose meets the connectors.
Haven't had a single problem after my first hose, a regular slimline, split at this junction in the first few days of use.
Cheers,
xena

I used Vetwrap--I cut about a foot long piece and then cut the 4" width in half lengthwise-to 2" wide.
I wrapped each end from about a quarter inch in from the outside end of the heavy gray rubber end piece to about an inch or so onto the hose; spiraling the wrap to stabilize the connection and stiffen the hose somewhat.
The texture reminds me to be gentle when I handle it and the tape supports the flimsy bit while I'm sleeping.
It is a little sloppy when I wash the hoses-but worth the trouble.
This has worked on both ends of all our Resmed skinny hoses--including the Climatelines.
Since last fall, we have yet to need our back up hoses.

My climate line hose also had a tear in it . The new one that I just received is a lot thicker . Hopefully it will last longer then the old one.

I just retired my first Climateline hose after one year of use. Still working good and no cracks, etc. observed. I haven't noticed any difference between the new one and the old one so maybe my old one was of the newer thicker design.

I've had my Resmed S9 and H5i for two years and have ripped the plastic hose at both ends. I've repaired it successfully by compressing the hose so the ribs touch one another and then wrapping the compressed ribs together with electrical tape. The solid bundle of ribs can then easily be taped to the collar of the tube and the leak is sealed. I found it best to wrap the tape in a herringbone fashion like you would a bandage to a splint, in a rolling figure 8. I'll wrap my next new hose like that in the beginning.
Cheers.

Does anyone know if ResMed has redesigned the ClimateLine tubing to be more durable and brought them to market or is it the same tube that they had when this thread was started some time back?

Well I've just replaced my Climateline hose again and I do not see any difference
So i used my F4 tape again to strengthen the cuffs
Resmed have a version of the climateline called the MAX, but its only a fatter hose intended for higher pressure on certain machines

The same thing happened to my climateline hose. I bought it in Feb 2011. However I use it rarely. I called RESMED FINLAND. They promised to send me a new one for free. Nice service, isn't it?
