It's a shame he isn't using it. I guess he doesn't care about having a longer lifespan. I just don't think CPAP is bad at all. I have been using it for a month. My appetite has decreased, which is so great!!

He is kind of obnoxious but I think it was brave of him to show his sleep study to everyone. It was kind of funny and is at the below link for those who haven't seen it.

Many of the benefits to xPAP therapy would seem indispensable to someone who works in front of a camera. Improvements in cognitive facility, memory, speaking fluidity, and even appearance come to mind.

Pre-diagnosis, my wife would give me heck for speaking in a halting, desultory fashion. Now, after a bunch of successful xpappian years, I have to reign myself in, lest I be a motormouth.

Aside from health, longevity, and the rest of our long list of osa-related sequelae, most of us know that public speaking and working in front of a camera require an edge; and xPAP can provide one with just that.

As far as criticizing the gent? No opinions either way. Not that there's anything wrong with his programs, but my tastes in broadcast entertainment are too eclectic to include them. (For example, I never consider any t.v. until after 5 pm unless it's a weekend sports program, or there is a critical news event that compels me to turn on Fox News for a quick briefing.)

I happened to be watching Regis this morning with my coffee. I was so disappointed and dismayed to hear him saying he's not wearing "his hose" on national TV. And in a very nonchalant manner just saying the mask "bothered him", as though it really didn't matter much and wasn't a serious problem. Kelly did repeat a few times that she knows when he's using it and when he's not, so he made a bet with her that "sometime" next week he'll wear the mask ONE night and see if she can tell any difference. It was like a comedy routine. Now if any newbies were watching and struggling they'll be thinking "if Regis is failing with all his money, experts and personal assistants, what makes me think I can succeed". Very irresponsible and I hope he gets lots of negative responses for his cavalier attitude about a very serious health issue. Hmm, I think I'll look into writing to him myself.

Careful guys, Regis is a member and posts regularly here. I am still trying to figure out which member name he is using.
Roster, do you know for sure that he's a member before I drive myself crazy trying to figure out who he is? You could be joking but I can't "see" you

None of those qualities seem to be necessary for his successful show.

I am just pissed at him because he makes so much money, has expensive tailored suits, eats in fine restaurants and his job is chatting nonsense for a couple of hours five mornings per week.

I can "see" you DoriC and forget that letter writing. My producer has instructions to trash anything from you. You don't wear the hose. You don't know what it is like. Mike agrees with me.

Being compliant isn't easy!
Travelling with the gear takes determination too.

Regis is hard working, and seems to be respected in the business.

When things aren't going well with my gear I turn into a cranky old....fellow.

I would not have become compliant without the help of people like all of you (about 10 years ago it was a newsgroup and advice there that kept me going.)

Sorry to hear that Regis isn't using his equipment. My dad was sooo like him about cpap - very non chalant...said he couldn't get used to the mask...to claustrophobic...etc. Operative word - WAS!

I am always working, so I don't really get to watch Regis and Kelly but the few times when I have, I liked them and I would indeed be sorry if Reg suffered some serious complication from untreated sleep apnea. I agree that there was a missed opportunity here for him to help others and hope that one day he will turn that around.

Regards to all,

Jersey Girl

But maybe as a group we should write the show. If they have enough response to his comments, the producers might get him to talk about his problems. A few letters maybe not, but a few hundred letters might persuade him. We could have our host go on the show to talk with him about the frustration of finding the right combination of equipment.

Here is the link to contacting the show if anyone wants to do that. Help Regis get back on the CPAP.

Regis, My guy is a real man and just does what he has to do, but all you do is whine, whine, whine!! I'm going to have to talk with your wife Joy and explain the facts of life to her! She definitely needs my help in handling the big TV star!
