When I went from 32 bit Vista to 64 bit Win7 ,on my laptop, I made a partition and put Win7 on it.
I musta missed why the M series machines are stuck?

Because there are no 64-bit drivers in existence for those older card readers. The only reason this trick works for the PR1 is because it uses a standard SD memory card which already has drivers built into the OS.

Not sure what I did then cuz I have read my M series card on Win7/64 w/Encore 2.3

I don't know which card the op needs a 64 bit driver for but I got the 64 bit driver for my older smart card (MAKO DT3500) here

Good point, they did update Encore PRO with 64 bit drivers didint they? So they are in existence. I wonder if someone could figure out a way to extract the drivers from that install so that other people could manually install them on their computer for 64bit encore viewer use.
Completely forgot that they updated that. Thanks for the correction.
Anyway, until they release a 64 bit version of the viewer, there are some limitations we will have to live with until someone smarter than me (practically everyone! ) can figure out a better solution. Still, I have to say that this method works pretty well considering how it has to be installed.
Side note, I got a copy of the latest EP 64 bit installer and it still wont install on my windows 7 64bit machine.. I just have no idea what this issue is. I've pretty much given up on it at this point.

I think I just let it go to the internet (Windows Update site) to get the driver it was looking for. I tend to let installs select their default options. That has always worked for me.

Go figure - but it just straightened out on it's own. After opening and closing the program a few times the error went away. I don't know why, but it did.
Works fine now. I have one of those muti card readers built into the tower I just built. The only thing I can attribute it to, (logically) is that I was messing with changing device logical identifiers (I.E. Drive H, K, L, M, etc.) Perhaps the software got confused as to where the card reader was when I changed these after I first installed the software. That's the only thing I can think of.
It always seems like you get little "gremlins" in a new system that have to be worked out. This was one of them.
Anyway it is working good now and I am happy.
Thanks for the responses.

Nice! Glad you were able to get it figured out. Thanks for sharing the results and what you did so others can benefit.

I found another little glitch with my viewer software and Windows 7 64 bit.
I find I can't print any reports out. I can view them but when I hit the print button nothing happens.
Has anyone see this before? My printers work fine with all other applications. It's like Adobe print function isn't linked to the report part of the software somehow.
Let me know if you have seen this before and know of any fixes for this.
I'm almost there.
Thanks in advance.

Are you able to export into a pdf and print it from there?

That's a good question - I guess I will try that.
I know I can "save" a PDF - I'll check to see if I can print it after I save it.
It's strange why it won't print directly from the program, unless when doing the actual install, instead of copy, it doesn't link to the Adobe program.
I'll let you know if that works. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes - it does print a saved PDF document from the program.
Does anyone know how to make it print within the program when copying the code over to Windows 7 64 bit?
It's not a big deal - but just an inconvenience not being able to do this.

I am running Encore Pro v2.4.12.2 64 bit version on Windows 7 Pro , it has the same problem, if I try to print, nothing, UNTIL I reboot the computer, then it starts printing as soon as it boots up to Windows, and spits out a blank sheet first EVERY time, so what I do, save the reports off and then go print them outside of the software.

Well, I got EV 2.0 running on my Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit computer. I tried to install EP 2.4 64-bit but the SQL server part of the install bombed. Then when I tried to uninstall the SQL Server THAT also bombed, so now I have to reinstall my system from scratch, before I try again.
Yes, it was frustrating, especially since in another career I used to install and manage SQL servers for a large Fortune 500 company. I guess sleep apnea (along with lupus antibodies) makes you forget a lot of things you once knew very well ... I wish there was a Mac version of this software.
Does anyone know if the EV software tries to erase your card data? I've been copying it to my computer so not to risk it.

No it will not erase the card. So your data is safe. Only in Pro version is there the choice to erase the card. Viewer won't offer the choice anywhere.
