Dried apricots are really high but check labels some are much higher than others..this was my doc's first suggestion for potassium...the pill forms cause stomach issues that's why they're limited to 99 mgs. 99 mgs is like nothing, we're suppposed to get something like 5000 mgs/day if my memory is working right. Parsley is high and so are dandelions...I understand the latter makes a tasty tea & the young greens make great salads, I haven't the guts to try it . I buy parsley and use it in oh, just about everything.

My husband has heart palpitations that are really bothersome. His cardiologist put him on medication, and that is sufficient to keep them under control. He was told he may need surgery if the meds didn't control it.
However, my daughter-in-law has had heart palpitations occasionally for years. But recently it started and wouldn't stop, and it became painful. After an ambulance ride to the hospital, they finally managed to get it stopped with something in an IV. She will have surgery next week to correct whatever electrical flaws there are.
I'm not trying to scare anyone, but perhaps these symptoms should be checked out.

Seems on-topic to me...
I used to eat a banana every day for potassium as jmelby suggests. However, I've recently learned that they are a migraine trigger, so I stopped eating them. Now I'm not sure what to do. (I can't do V8 because of food reactions to nightshades, Muse-Inc.) Any suggestions for other foods that are good potassium sources?
Apricots (fresh more so than canned), Avocado, Banana, Cantaloupe, Honeydew, Kiwi, Lima beans, Milk, Oranges and orange juice, Potatoes (can be reduced to moderate by soaking peeled, sliced potatoes overnight before cooking), Prunes, Spinach, Tomatoes, Vegetable juice & Winter squash

When I had my sleep study, they found PVC's. I did the echo, ekg & holter monitor and thank God everything is fine and the PVC's are normal. I don't always feel them but when I do, it takes my breath away. Its a weird sensation but I'm glad its nothing to worry about.

I agree, the PVC's do really take your breath away, mostly though they're harmless and most people get them. If you get an aching pain around them then this does usually mean there's something more going on. e.g. high blood pressure, stress etc.
I usually get them when I'm heavy stressed, drink a lot of caffeine, my blood pressure is elevated. If they continue to go on for several weeks then I start to get some pain, but usually I can regulate it by de-stressing my life.
Thanks
Dave

I'm glad to hear it's less problematic than other symptoms. Thank you so much for everyone's responses. I've noticed mine seem to be coming more often now. When I go to sleep, they seem to come timed at the bottom of every exhale or so. Weird gets weirder. I'm sure this will all get picked up at tonight's titration.
There seems to be
no reasonable way to get 5000mg K per day.
Potatoes/tomatoes/peppers/eggplants -- all in the nightshade family - food reaction
Bananas -- migraine trigger.
Citrus -- food reaction.
Milk/dairy -- food reaction.
Citrate supplements in general -- migraine trigger, other problems.
Limas, winter squash, spinach, beets -- I love all of these, but eating five or six cups in any combination? I'd be full at the first two cups! It's interesting that these all tend to be winter-season foods, except spinach. These are all some of my favorites.
Apricots/prunes -- again, I love these, but just three or four of these will travel through me sometimes alarmingly quickly. (Even milk of magnesia does that.)
It's almost like my body is telling me it dislikes to have these two elements, yet I obviously need them. So strange. What should I take away from that?

That's exactly when I get them...when I'm stressed out or lots of caffeine...I've backed way off the caffeine since I found out about the PVC's. When I was having all the tests done I was having pain with them and my BP was higher than normal but the last time I went in, my BP was great. I'm glad they aren't "a big deal" but I still don't like them.

I have the same thing. My cardiologist said it's very normal as long as no pain is involved. He also told me it sometimes shows up when there is a change in electrolytes. It made sense because I had been drinking a sports drink while working out, and a few months back switched to plain water. To make sure he set me up for 24hr blood pressue monitor, then a holter monitor, a stress test, and finally a sleep study. That's actually how I found out I had severe OSA. After all that he said everything is good. I highly recomend the holter. It really put my mind to rest.

I drink regular tea now, or even Jasmine (green tea) without milk and I find that's almost as good as tea and helps, also drink water and soft drinks/orange juice. If I have a stressful week then 2 cups of coffee a day are enough to send me over the edge, and I find I end up suffering for up to 2 weeks with PVC's and associated pain if my BP is up.

It's how I found out about my Sleep Apnea too. Before I knew about my Sleep Apnea I would doze off on long drives, and I remember drinking 4x cans of Red Bull (high energy/caffeine drink) to stay awake and they say it gives you wings, and by god does it give you wings. I think that was the first time I started to feel what PVC's were like. Since learned that you're only supposed to drink 1 or 2 of those cans otherwise it's a massive caffeine/sugar rush.
Thanks
Dave

I've read that regular tea has as much or more caffeine as coffee. I know I can't drink regular tea or coffee after a certain hour as it keeps me awake.

"like having a carp flopping around in my chest" That is exactly what it feels like.
I get PVC's too. I'm sure I have them all day, but only feel them when I first go to bed and relax.
I notice I get the PVCs more if I try to cut down on the Neurotin that I take for nerve pain in my legs. So I stick to the Neurotin -- which helps me sleep too.
Love the flopping carp analogy.

I've been to the ER so many times with palpitations! They scare me out of my mind. There was a while a few years ago my family thought I was crazy running to the ER so much. I've had every test and they come out normal. It's still scary when it happens. Usually when I sit down to relax at night I'll get a few "flutters". I don't know what's going on.
