Key questions include:
- how hot does the material have to be to be shaped?
- is skin protection needed during shaping, due hot surface
- how stable is the result? (How often does it have to be redone?)

Question for Johnny:
Since the challenge is between two masks, why is it positioned for Respironics Comfort Gel users to try the Resmed Soft Gel? Why can't folks like me who've tried the Resmed Soft Gel (my backup mask of choice) chime in about the Respironics Comfort Gel?

Dear Friends,

I was hoping to get in on this challenge but because I have already used them both, they cannot accept me. It has to be people who have used the Comfort Gel but not the Mirage Soft Gel yet. I am curious to know how the challenge turns out and maybe I can participate in something else down the road.

Wishing you all peaceful, restorative sleep,

Jersey Girl

FORMS FORMS FORMS. enrollment, enrollment, enrollment, again again again

cpap.com has more information on me than the federal government

I filled in the generic form to agree for any trials at cpap.com already. So why more forms ....

Johnny if Resmed has contacted you can you please ask them why they are not providing patient software so that we can monitor our therapy

Be aware that the SoftGel is not a boil and fit system. It goes on and seals "cold".

Resmed has commissioned this trial and has sent us products to be used in the trial. This trial will test the market case where "I use a ComfortGel nightly and I try a SoftGel. Which do I like more? Do I switch?"

We've taken a hard line and said that our trials have to be marketing meaningful. Its not enough to win, you have to be superior to what someone is using now or you haven't created a product that truly impacts the market. We test for that impact.

I agree. Our current enrollment software is clunky at the expense of users. We recently pushed a redesign of CPAP.com out that absolutely slammed our noble coders to the wall. Now that we have released it, we are again devoting resources to improving other aspects of our websites. Upgrading the Product Challenge system is on that list. Please put up with us a little longer on this front and a better system will come.

I'm a card carrying member of the EFF (Electronic Freedom Foundation) and am extremely sensitive to privacy violations. We collect the detailed information because:

1. Its voluntary. You can chat on CPAPtalk from here to kingdom come and decide never to give it to us if you so please.

2. Its needed to improve products. I think I can respect the privacy of those enrolled in our product challenge systems AND improve product quality of CPAP equipment for all users. Consider what you trade against what ALL will get and I think/hope you'll agree that the actions we've taken here make good sense.

Regarding the software. I've begged, pleaded, yelled, lobbied, preached and cussed. Respironics has (finally) come out with a user version for the PR System One. Resmed has indicated that they have no plans to do so. I think this is a strategic mistake, but I don't own or run the company.

I think the only way to change the software situation is to change the value and respect level of end users within the industry. Signing up for and supporting product challenges is a huge boost to this effort.

Now THIS is a challenge!!!! I'm really looking forward to the results of this Product Challenge. The reviews should really be helpful - the ComfortGel has long been a favorite, but when that SoftGel came into the office I was floored. Wish I could see the tallies roll in!

Well Done CPAPtalk for already scoring a win!
