Well, all looks good except for the no 64-bit support. Which is in contradiction to what encore support told me several months ago. Too bad the installer couldn't ask if you were only using the software for the newer machines and thus allow you to install it w/o the 32-bit only drivers for the smart card reader since an SD card just works. O well... here's a nice writeup on the newer version. I think the nicest feature is the native export to PDF:

That brings up a question in my mind. what if you have two users (or more) in the household. Do you need a license for each viewer?
That would be a real Pain (IMHO)
Can you have separate databases?
Also, the pro does take a few seconds to "boot up" but it is reasonably fast on my machine (YMMV ).

Software is licensed to a machine, one per machine or however the license is set for, not how many users use the machine. This cut down version of the software doesn't use a MySOL database, so separate databases aren't there. Jim

The older Encore Viewer 1.0 would let you have more than one person set up in the data base. All you had to do is select which one you wanted to download to. I had my main database and set up a seperate one for naps, worked fine. I suspect that the new version will work the same way.

Just a note on the very slow running of EP 2.2. If you set your company settings/preferences are "total leak" rather than "unintentional leak" it will run faster. Running on "unintentional leak" slows down the reports HUGELY.

But it is impractical to believe that two people in the same household would use the same machine (and I am sure that I wouldn't go out to share with strangers ). Are we supposed to "Buddy Breath" .
No what I was asking was could two people use the same software license between two CPAP machines. You have indicated that the answer is "NO". The software is licensed as one user linked to one machine. I can assure you that the next time I am picking a Machine for me and/or my bride, Respironics may well be on the bottom of the list.
That would be an additional
$400.00 for NON-Supported Software. I am sorry that is WRONG I don't have a problem with a vendor making a profit but that seems so wrong some how
Cheers,
Dave

My DME wants to put a modem on my machine. My DME uses EncoreAnywhere. Does anyone know if it will work through a Majicjack (fake phone line) and if my DME would be able to email me reports, as in PDF? Thanks so very very much.
This might be a solution to the s/w cost issue, assuming one has a "warm" enough relationship with their DME to get them to call the machine each day and email the reports back! Probably a fantasy though...

I think it's my 1-month CPAP anniversery today...what a ride!

First Congrats on the one month anniversary I just had mine also. As to the DME doing all that for you well good luck Actually, if you can pull it off, post your methods here (blackmail, compromising pics. etc.).
That is a very good question on the Majicjack. I used "Vonage" and was able to use a phone modem ONCE (not for CPAP data). So maybe Majicjack would work too.
I really need to give my buddy in PA a call and see what connectivity they have for my machine (Respironic System one). I would hope they have progressed beyond "dial up" as the down load times would be pretty long for a full report from my machine.
Cheers,
Dave

Oops, I blew it! I just looked at the calendar and it's just my measly 3-week anniversary! I wonder if time was flying because I'm not sure I'd call it having fun... It's probably because that I've taken an interest, due to the people here, and feel like I've been through a lot already. Thanks. I'll post back what's involved in adding the modem and if the Magicjack works.

The original version of Encore Viewer 1.0 let you add up to five people total. They didn't have to be using the same CPAP machine. I read the cards for three friends in town from their machines (CPAP, APAP, and BiPAP machines) and I chose (didn't have to) to give each of them a different name in my Encore Viewer program. I had myself listed twice -- under one name when I used my autopap, and under a different name when I used my bipap auto.
I used PrimoPDF (a free program available on the internet) to create a PDF file of each person's results in Encore Viewer 1.0 so I could save each one in separate folders on my 'puter. Am glad to read (in the link thecomputerguru posted) this about Encore Viewer 2.0:
"Respironics added the ability to save reports as PDF files. Rather than printing reports and then scanning the printed pages, end users can finally just click a button to create a PDF document in less than a second!"
I haven't used the newer Encore Viewer version 2.0, but I'd expect it also lets you list up to five people, too.

1. I don't know what a Majicjack is, so I don't know the answer to this.
2. Yes, your DME could email you reports in pdf format.
This might be a solution to the s/w cost issue, assuming one has a "warm" enough relationship with their DME to get them to call the machine each day and email the reports back! Probably a fantasy though...
3. Your DME doesn't have to call your machine each day. Your machine calls in each day and the data gets uploaded to EncoreAnywhere. If you want daily detail reports, you will need your DME to email you the data each week because they can only get the last week's daily details. So, for example, you could get aggregate data such as the month's average AHI, but you will still only get daily details for the last 7 days.
Drawbacks to this approach vs. Encore Pro 2.2:
1. You are dependent on your DME's goodwill and reliability.
2. You can't manipulate the data yourself. So, for example, if you want to see just the past 2 days when you used Mask A compared to these other days when you used Mask B, I doubt if any DME is going to agree to send you various permutations.
3. On a modem, the DME/Dr. can change your settings on your machine.
4. The DME/Dr. can see if you change your settings.
I don't know anything about the new viewer that's out, so I can't compare DME vs. viewer, but frankly, I can't imagine wanting the DME involvement and dependence on them on a long-term basis.

Yes, the price isn't too much but I have an apple computer. I don't like or want to purchase and download windows. I will just have to bring the data card to the DME or doctor's office and get my data that way. I can be sort of obsessive so maybe it is better that I don't pore over the data all the time anyway.

I still don't think there have been any posts from anyone who actually has this software. We are all just speculating. Am I wrong? If I am it would be nice to get a review from an actual user.
