Liz... I see this and it makes sense, but my card has detailed data going back to the first date of my therapy (9/15/2011). I was just looking at it with an EDF files last night.

I apologize if this topic has already been mentioned, but is there a mac option for this software? I've downloaded the resScan 3.14 but am unable to open on my mac.

if I was you... I'd try sleepyhead which was written by a poster on the forum. It's alpha ware (so it's buggy) but it does have a mac option (Snow Leopard I believe)

This is a long thread and I'm getting confused. I thought it said all I need to get my data with the S9 is the SD card. Do I also have to get software to install on my laptop in order to read the sd card? Don't laugh at me, I'm not that up on SD cards and computers. Could someone list what I have to get inorder to get my data from an S9? Originally I thought all I had to do was take the SD card out of the S9 machine and put it in the SD slot on my laptop,
and the data would appear on my computer screen the same way I download photos from my camera.

Only if your model of S-9 takes photos, your info shows a Remstar. If you do have a Real S-9 that captures useful data, you will need the software. Jim

Yes you need to install software prior to inserting your SD card.

When you install the software the instruction manual are also installed. As you are using the SD card do NOT select any of the boxes to install additional drivers during the installation.

The links to download the software and also the clinicians manual for the S9 are below my avatar to left.

On the machine, you need to turn on "sleep quality", thats how you get the machine to record detailed data.
you need to sleep with the SD card in the machine at night for the machine to record the detailed data.
you need to tell the software to download the detailed data, the default is summary data only.
Download the data to ResScan on your computer at least every 7 days if you want ALL the detailed data.

The little tutorial movie from DreamDiver is well worth the time to view it, and is a great video. Basic, and explains some simple operation aspects of the software. For anyone that wants the ResScan software or already has it, it's a must-see. That video, the ResMed download link and the clinic version of the user manual should be in a sticky on this forum.

The software is interesting though as the S9 appears to be very sensitive. I toss and turn a lot and tend to hold my breath before changing sleeping position. Also, when changing body position, it often causes a mask leak. When the leak gets fixed, either by chance or by me waking up and fixing it, the substantial reduction in air flow usually gets registered as a central apnea. When I change body position, it also gets registered as a central apnea. Using DreamDiver's video, I can visually see the leak profile and air flow, and I can then also see when an event is merely a leak getting fixed and not a real apnea. Also, when I change body position, I can see a flow increase as I breath in before moving, I see the flat line as I hold my breath while shifting body position, and then I see a sharp flow decrease as I breath out once I've shifted. These "events" can also then be ruled out. A "true" event is easy to spot because the flow graph shows a flow drop as I exhale, then the flow flatlines as I stop breathing, then there is a sharp flow increase as I breath in when the apnea stops. The profile of this event is opposite to my position change "apneas" and is nothing like the flow profile of a mask leak "apnea". DreamDiver's video, plus looking at the charts on pages 5 to 8 of the clinic manual go a long way towards being able to interpret the graphs in ResMed and what they actually mean as far as how the CPAP treatment is proceeding and whether it's actually working or not. Using the video and the manual, I can see that:

- usually more than 75% of my AHI score are not apneas at all and nothing more than leaks or position changes, or combinations of both
- I actually only have maybe 1 to 3 actual events per night, if I have any at all
- the events are usually noisy partial airway obstructions
- most nights, there are no "real" apneas at all
- when there is a "real' apnea, it's a central apnea

I wouldn't, and haven't, had this kind of information from the medical community or offices I've had to visit. They give vague information and change settings. Again, thanks to this forum, thanks to this thread, and those three links NEED a sticky . . .

In addition to the CPAP and the ResScan software, there's the handy little Zeos alarm clock. It has a little band that goes around your pumpkin at your temple and monitors your sleep activity, which is wirelessly recorded on your alarm clock on a handy dandy memory card, just like the S9 CPCP uses. It gets pretty good reviews, and seeing as how my old alarm clock finally blew up, I ordered one that should arrive in a few days.

It'll be interesting to turn off the CPAP and use the sleep monitor for a day or two, then use the CPAP again and see what changes there are to my sleep patterns. It has a number of features and a "coach" to apparently/supposedly help and advise on sleeping better. We'll see.

You really ought to have put this comment into a new thread. It'll get better attention that way.

Looks interesting, although I doubt anyone would need or want to use it for more than a few nights every once in awhile just to keep tabs on their condition and watch for changes. After a year of continuously monitoring my CPAP data and seeing things stay quite steady I'm contemplating what sort of occasional monitoring program I want to move to.
