to not list any equipment?
Is it the length of time you have been a member?
Is it the number of posts you have made?
Is it a code to the Inner Circle?
If equipment is not listed, is it assumed that:
you don't want to share....
you have it all figured out....
you don't need any help.....
or you are beyond help?
You need to attend the international CPAP think tank conference for those answers.

Me -- I'm trying a new machine and a new mask -- and do not yet own either -- and not sure how things will develop.

Is it PC to list today's equipment -- when posts of the past refer to other equipment?
If you switch to new equipment, (I used my old machine for almost 5 years ) do you give a chronological list?

But basically -- its PC to list whatever you feel comfortable with listing.

I couldn't attend that International conference, but I heard there were some very imprssive speakers there: they could be understood even when they wore their masks! Translation was trasmitted via hoses, by the way.

O.

I prefer to see both the picture AND text describing the item in the picture.

But, without that choice, I prefer text as the pictures are generally so small it can be difficult to tell what machine / mask it is unless you are very familiar with it.

If I had the option in setting up my profile, I would choose to display both picture and text.
If I was allowed to choose how I see others stuff, if given the option, again I would choose both pictures and text.
If, when viewing others stuff, I had to choose between pics and text then it would be text 100%.

I suspect most people will choose the text option.
Mouseover links to cpap.com are fine.

Do they rotate?

Because the four gerbils down the street rotate every time they put on their ballet tutus.

Extremely impressive if you ask me!

Yes, this must be the users choice.

But -- I wonder if while filling the profile the process can be improved.
Can you add a feature in the profile so than when the text is selected, a picture shows up for the user that asks "is this how your equipment looks" ? That would solve some of the "older model/newer model" confusions that happen when people aren't aware of the differences.
Ah, I hadn't considered that. Good idea!

Sorry, Johnny... Not to side-track your excellent poll with gerbil humor.

Back on track...

I prefer refrigerators, mice, a non-PC carbonman, and -SWS's humor, but honestly have no preference on what the call for feedback was about. I trust you, Johnny.

I don't really get to decide that, its just what the CPAPtalk culture decides it means, but I do have an opinion. I think it means either:

1. You registered quick so you could get to chatting and its not that important to you, which is fine.

2. You are a regular CPAPtalker who has gotten past the "I'm a newbie, this suck, help" phase and decided that its really not anyone business to know what you use OR that you feel the text clutters your footer up. I think this is fine too.

I think most people like it and will use it just to give others a feel for where they've been and what they know. Also, if I'm a newbie coming on the board, I definitely want to know what equipment RG, Carbon, Wulf, Rooster, etc are using!

Uh,Oh, Johnny, I think you've broken the code!! Sorry, "you know who" made me do it!

Well I obviously can't speak for others here who have decided to not list their equipment. My own simple rationale is that I prefer not to implicitly endorse a model or brand. There are simply too many excellent choices IMHO. And one pattern this message board repeatedly bears is that what works extremely well for one person doesn't always work well for another.

The reviews and star-ratings found at the bottom of each CPAP.com product description are far more useful than which machine model -SWS happens to be using and flagging in his message footer. And detailed product reviews on this message board are similarly far more useful IMHO.

The equipment listing in the footer is extremely helpful as we attempt to give newcomers advice about their equipment. That's the main feature value IMO.

I like the idea of pictures with text poping up on a "mouse over"
